TW: implied abuse
---
Y/n? What are you still doing here?" a gruff voice sounded from behind, startling Y/n as they mixed the sweet hot chocolate mix into the steaming mug on the counter.
It was Christmas break, and all the students had gone back to their families for the two weeks they had off school. Students weren't expected to stay on campus at the dorms, but most teachers stayed a few more days to finish up grading any more papers and filing reports. Aizawa was just getting ready to return to his apartment for the holidays a day after break had started, but a noise caught his attention. Following the sound to the kitchen, he noticed one of his students standing there as if there was nothing strange about the situation, making hot chocolate completely unbothered.
The air was chilled and hung heavy, Aizawa waiting for a response as Y/n only stared at him wide-eyed, not registering that they were expected to respond. They softened their tense, startled gaze before shifting it to their sweet festive drink and taking a sip. They took a deep breath and then spoke, still looking into their mug instead of their teacher, watching the different shades of chocolate brown swirl together and mix.
"I'd prefer staying here than at home," they responded simply, stating their excuse without any reason as to why. Aizawa only stared back, his intense dark eyes blinking slowly before he sighed, pinching his nose.
"You do realize no one else was going to be on campus at all, right? Wouldn't that be lonely? It's the holidays, go spend time with your family." He walked past them, slouching as he grabbed a glass of water and leaned on the counter. Y/n leaned on the opposite counter, facing him, both taking occasional sips from their respectful refreshments.
"They're not exactly good company." This piqued Aizawa's interest. He was a hero, he delt with abused kids all the time. His own son he had adopted from an abusive foster home, although most would assume they were biologically related with their uncanny eyebags and critical insomnia.
He paused, realizing Y/n hardly went home for weekends either, and recounting past scenarios where they had been particularly jumpy or anxious. "Can I ask you something important?" His monotone voice rarely showed emotion, including now.
Y/n merely glanced at him in response, prompting him to continue and awaiting whatever it was he had to say. They showed no signs of worry, but they mentally prepared themselves to be kicked out and sent home.
"Are you safe at home?"
They hadn't expected that.
They coughed, nearly choking on their hot chocolate and sputtering sounds of shock.
"W-what? Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?" They wiped their mouth of the chocolate liquid that had splattered onto their face.
"Y/n, if something is going on, I can get you help. I've been through the process before; I'm a hero, it's my job." He stated everything simply and calmly, keeping a matter-of-fact façade to cover his inner worry for his student.
"Really, Sensei, I'm fine. I'm just going to... go back to my dorm." They pointed down the hallway and took a few steps away, waiting for any reaction from the scowl-prone man. When they didn't receive any, they scampered away to their safe haven quickly.
Regardless of their home situation, one thing was for sure in Aizawa's mind: he would not let them be alone for Christmas.
Sending a quick text to his husband and son, who were already at home relaxing and waiting for him, he told them they would be staying at the 1A dorms for the break.

This will have multiple parts, perhaps not all out by Christmas, assuming I have the time/motivation to actually write them. Will include EraserMic bits and Shinsou as their son as they welcome Y/n into their family for the holidaysAlso, the Todoroki family thing isn't finished either, I plan to add more parts to that too
