I couldn't breathe. The blinding lights above me were hot. I was sweating in places I didn't even know a woman could sweat. I could feel it running down the back of my neck, and off of my forehead. The people in front of me are gathered by large numbers. They have their hands in the air, with posters saying 'I love you, Caila" being held by admirable little kids on their parents' shoulders. I couldn't help but smile, as the sound of the screaming audience comes raging back to my ears. Like the waves of the ocean crash onto the shore of the beach, the approval of these people was a rush. A rush of adrenaline. 'This is it.' I said to myself. 'This is what I worked so hard for. I'm never letting this go.' I put the microphone back to my lips, and before I could get a word out, a song I knew all too well started to play.
"Hey, girl, jus look at you. So beautiful an drop dead hot!" My heart skipped a beat. He wasn't supposed to be here for this show. He was supposed to be in New York for an album signing. I was confused. Then, the entire scenery changed. Another of his most popular songs began to play. 'U' was written while we had been dating, and had become my all time favorite song he's ever written. The audience went CRAZY. The cheers grew louder, the energy in the arena just turned from a good night to a GREAT night. I couldn't even look at him. I wasn't sure how my emotions were supposed to sit after the fight we'd had yesterday. Suddenly, the audience began chanting. It took me a moment to listen, and to figure out what they were chanting.
"TURN AROUND!" They chanted. Confused, I turned around, and there he was. On his knee, with a little box in his hand. He put the microphone up to his lips, and through all the sweating and breathlessness, he began to speak.
"Caila. I know we just got into an argument yesterday, and I'm sorry. I was in the wrong, and I should have approached you about it better. I'm sorry that I said the things I said. I wanna build a better, and stronger life with you. I love you with everything in me. So, Caila. Will you marry me?" I wept. I put the microphone in my hands to my lips, and said through tears, "YES!" The audience started screaming even LOUDER! I was so shocked! Their voices were going to be gone by the time they woke up in the morning, but still! It was amazing! I looked into my fiancé's eyes, then looked out into the audience, and felt a huge tidal wave of happiness. He turns to me, and pulls me in closer by my waist.
"We're going to have a very good life, Caila. I promise." I chuckled.
"You BETTER promise! You want to know why?" I say in a good mannered voice. He smiles.
"Why?" I smile even larger. I stand on my tip toes to reach his ear, and I whisper,
"I'm pregnant." Into his ear. He pulls away from me, and starts to cheer. I giggle. Everything was perfect...almost...
