Every person longs to find a place to belong. For some a home can be a safe haven for those who want to find the serenity that they seek. For others traveling to different places gives them the satisfaction that they seek. Every person has a preference in what makes them happy. In this story a pair of two siblings are about to live together in a place that has been in their family for generations that will give them something unexpected. Family comes first for these two and that is a good thing because sometimes the people that are closest to us give us the true comfort that we seek.

The siblings in this story are a brother and a sister that have just buried their parents after they died in a plane crash. After being left a sizeable amount of money by their parents and after they attended the reading of the will they also found out that they had inherited an estate that their parents owned which they were not aware of. Carol Carnell was a famous science fiction author that loved to watch many classic television science fiction series like V, Quantum Leap, The X Files and Fringe. Carol also had a keen eye for photography and she enjoyed reading books by Anne Rice and Dean Koontz. Her younger brother Brendan Carnell was born blind yet his parents taught him how to be strong by encouraging him to work out at the gym or at home. Josh and Brooke Carnell had met at a local gym before they got married and they both loved to stay in shape. Brendan loved to stay in shape as well and in his younger years he also took judo classes to defend himself. Brendan had a charming witty personality and he found out at an early age that people liked to talk to him and that he made them feel at ese. He did not know it when he was younger but that skill that he had to make others open up to him would make him become one of the best psychiatrists in the area. Brendan actually worked from home and he had a long list of clients. As fate would have it both Carol and Brendan had been living together for over 4 years because these two siblings always looked out for one another.

Carol and Brendan were curious as to why their parents left them a mysterious estate that they used for private getaways. Carol decided to do some research on the place and she found out that the place had been owned by an old relative of theirs named Jacob Carnell who made his fortune by finding a lot of gold through his travels. Jacob was also a collector of valuable antiques which he kept on his estate. The strange thing was that Jacob's eldest son Richard had vanished without a trace inside the estate and there was also a cousin named Evelyn that also disappeared during a family reunion. The estate was on the outskirts of a town known as Hope's Creek. The family estate also had a caretaker whose name was Maerd Pope who kept the place in great shape. Carol and Brendan had also been told by the attorney of the family Leonard Hall after he read the will to not take any photographs of the things that were located in the attic which they thought was weird. When they arrived to the estate they were greeted kindly by Maerd. The first thing that stood out from the estate was the multi-colored round window that was at the top of the house which was on the attic.
