"Yeah...okay we will see you at the park at six. Love you, byee babe!" Elizabeth put her phone down and turned to look at her younger sister. Her black dress twirled as she spun around to face Mindie. Her sister was twirling her locks continually around her finger because she was far out of her comfort zone. Elizabeth was always the fun, outgoing elder sister and she was the quiet, shy younger sister who always stayed at home.
"Hey Mindie, calm down okay. It is only a little party and we will be back before dad notices we are gone. Plus he is probably already passed out drunk on the sofa by now." Elizabeth tried to console her anxious sister. Her voice showing no concern despite the fact they were about to sneak out and go drinking with friends.
"It's not that Liz, I just...," Mindie stumbled with her words and looked at Liz. "I feel uncomfortable. I mean look at me." The young girl seemed distressed as she fiddled with her red, satin party dress. Mindie usually just wore jeans and whatever top she found and left it at that. Knowing she was showing her legs and not hiding behind a hoodie concerned her. She kept glancing back and forth towards the mirror, in the corner of the bedroom. Eyes drifting at herself to see if the dress showed more than necessary. Elizabeth dug her elbow into Mindie to stop her anxiety growing.
"You are fine, now come on we need to go get our shoes on." Elizabeth shook her head and walked out of the bedroom that both sisters shared. Mindie felt guilty knowing how much her sister was looking forward to this but she couldn't help the nagging feeling of what would occur if their dad found out. Elizabeth had spent nearly three hours getting ready for tonight and was excited to have some fun. She had curled her blonde locks to perfection and painted her face for the gods. Her brown eyes were beaming with anticipation for the night that laid ahead. She glanced at herself for the last time in the mirror. What looked back was a girl with faded, long black hair and dull brown eyes. A dress that hugged her figures which she would deny that she had and light makeup to cover her slightly pale skin. With one last smooth of her dress, she left the bedroom and walked down the plain hallway towards the stairs. Snores were already streaming from the living room, where the girl's father laid passed out. Mindie walked downstairs trying to avoid the awkward creaking stairs and joined Elizabeth with putting her shoes on. With both girls now ready to leave with their coats, phones, and bags ready they left the house.
.........
By the time the girls had reached the park it was 6:36 and the boys had already arrived. Jason, Ashton and Tyler all sat around a bench on the outskirts of the park. Hiding themselves in the shadows to avoid being questioned by anyone because honestly they all looked suspicious wearing black. Ashton waved at the girls and cooed them over, his voice echoing in the park.
"Ladies, I am the gay one so I am meant to be late but heavens." Ashton giggled, his smile reaching his blue eyes and his dimples showing. Ashton wore tight black jeans with pink converse and a baggy pink jumper.
"Dude are you always this loud, you are gonna wake the dead up at this rate." Tyler joined beside him and smirked at the person beside him. Tyler wore black ripped jeans, with chains and a causal band t-shirt with an infamous leather jacket. His brown eyes set firmly on the boy standing next to him, giggling to no ends. He wondered how one boy could seem so childish but yet adorable at once. When Jason approached it broke him from his trance. "Jason aren't you gonna go say hello or let your lady stand there?" Tyler questioned.
Jason walked up to Mindie and Elizabeth. He ignored Mindie which was to be expected because he didn't regard her as anyone special. His arms developed Elizabeth in a deep embrace and he started to whisper sweet things in her ear. Mindie coughed to get the lovers attention before they had the chance to escape behind the trees.
"Why did we bring her along? Babe isn't she like anti social or whatever. The place we are going ain't no place for cry babies." Jason stated bluntly as he glared at Mindie. Elizabeth elbowed his gut. Mindie simply ignored him and took it in her stride because she was used to this behaviour. Jason and Elizabeth had be on and off dating for years. Over time she got used to his cockiness and just choose to ignore it. Her sister was old enough to know right from wrong and she was too shy to say anything anyway.
Now all introductions were over, the gang followed behind Jason as he led them towards the party house. Elizabeth and him held each others hands, whispering back and forth. Mindie found herself next to Tyler and Ashton who were both bickering among themselves. She felt sort of left out, it wasn't much of a party group but everyone else had gone away on holiday or was working shifts. Either way Mindie's only friend was Ashton and she liked it that way. They had been friends since kinder garden and not left each other alone since.
"Hey Mindie-moo you are looking gorgeous in this, I told you to wear more edgy outfits." Ashton slung his arm around his life long friend and admired her dress.
"Thanks Ashton, I feel uneasy wearing it and my coat doesn't help in hiding it." Mindie wrapped her arms around herself and met her friends gaze. His smile was enough to calm her down and so nothing else was said after this. The group continued walking past the park until they reached a pair of old rusted gates. The gates were covered in ivy and litter ensured the floor around it.
A worn out name was engraved into the gate.
Macabee Woods.
Mindie looked at the rest of the group who seemed unfazed by how creepy the gate appeared. The rest of them were used to trespassing properties and exploring the unknown. Mindie felt her chest tighten and tried to dismiss the feeling. As Jason pushed open the gates and the group walked into the woods, only one thought appeared in the front of Mindie's mind...
'I have a bad feeling about this.'
