It had been days since Saskia had encountered the forbidden room, she didn't remember anything since the door had spoken to her, and she had spent many sleepless nights looking for the lost wing of the palace.

That too seemed to be hiding from her.

It was now the day of her ball and everyone seemed to be excited about the night but the princess herself.

She sat in her room for what felt like hours. Numerous people had been in and out her room, since the sun had risen, Saskia had not been to sleep, she had gotten word that the Night Prince and his court would be in attendance and staying on the palace grounds.

That thing in her head would not leave her alone, trying to coax her, urg her to see them, or rather just him.

"Happy Birthday, my darling princess," Noak said as he entered her room for the first time that day, just as she had been nudged by a maid pointing her it the direction of her dressing room,

Of course, she thought to herself. She had realized that he was only there to escort her to the party.

"Let's get this Goddess forsaken thing over with please," she pleaded, with a bored tone.

Saskia. Pov

I'll give it to my mother, she does know how to pick a ball gown, I had alway worn dresses but this was so much...better .

Everything about it screamed, a woman which was much contrast to my day to day dresses.
It was the kingdom's colors, -a deep peach colour- with light blue flowers embroidered from the strap that was only on one shoulder, and they stopped right at the waist, it flowed down and gathered at the ground with a slit coming up my left hip.

I had never felt so beautiful.

"Sas?" Noak called me from the main room, "It is time if you are ready."

The dress had given me a foreign sense of confidence as I made my way out, shoulders back and head held high.

"Don't droll, I'll have to find another escort," I joked with Noak as I walked out of the changing room, his eyes widened with shock and it dawned on me that, he had never seen me dresses in such a way, it was always pretty light blue and pink dresses, nothing ever form fitting or showing an ounce of maturity.

But there I stood in front of my best friend, and for the first time ever.

He was looking at me the way I had seen him look at other girls around the palace, and I loved it.

"Shall we," he asked, obviously trying to get both of us out of this situation. I went towards him, my dark wavy hair cascading down my back with flowers similar to the dress in it.

"I think Fonnaeus might make the assumption that you are stealing his province's fashion," He joked, leading down the hall and towards the grand ballroom, I could faintly hear the chatter of people, and music being played.

When we finally went to the door I could finally hear the capacity, my heart sank.

It had finally dawned on me that I was twenty years old, and yet everything in me wanted to go find my mother and hide behind her gown as I had done when she hosted a ball for my tenth birthday.

"Ok, Noak...let's do this, my feet are starting to kill me," I laughed and he opened the door.

The sound of the large doors opening had caused every head in the room to turn to the top of stairs that I would soon descend to join the party.

"I present to you, her Royal Highness of D-"

"Princess Saskia," another voice boomed from the other side of the ballroom, it was foriegn but everything inside me seemed to leap with a swelling sense familiarity

The voice came for a male, a quite handsome male, who was standing with two other men and a woman.

I had heard about them, they were cruel and vicious, and unworldly beautiful.

They were,

The Moon's court
