Him...

She laid in bed, contemplating her life choices. How was she so lucky to meet someone so great?

She ran her hands through her hair as she smiled at her phone, listening to him breathe as he fell asleep.

He had become her whole world.

He had manged to creep into her heart and steal it, before she ever realized it was gone.

Before him, she was broke. She was hurting, and she had the scars to prove it. Not a day went by that she didn't think about adding to her collection of hurt, her collection of scars.

She felt scared, hopeless, alone. Cold, dark, empty.

But she'd never let anyone know that.

She would go to work, smile, laugh, pick on everyone. She'd be cheery with her "Thank you! Have a great day!" And as everyday passed, faking it got easier and easier.

Her life at home wasn't any easier. She struggled with school. She uses to love it, but she just couldn't find the joy in it anymore. What was the point in fighting for something that won't take you anywhere? Not only school, but her family. Fighting. Yelling. Hatred. It didn't ever seem to let up...

And then... She found him. Her slice of heaven in a world of hell. Her own precious gem.

It started out so innocent. He just had a simple question, she just had a simple answer. But one five minute conversation turned into a night conversation, and that night conversation turned into a day, into a week, into so much more.

She found someone who could make her laugh when she wanted to cry.

Someone who cares enough to listen to her rant about her pain and hurt.

Someone she could trust and confide in.

The beautiful thing was, he was broken too.

He was hurt. He was broke. She didn't know if he could be fixed.

But suddenly, she found a reason to stay. She wanted to help him.

She wanted him to forget about his painful past, the harsh things he went through. She wanted to help him see the light in a world of darkness.

A while later, they hung out for the first time. Had their first kiss, and then some more. He held her.

When he held her, she felt like she was at home. She didn't want to move. She felt safe, protected. She felt as though nobody could get to her.

As they sat there, sitting on the cold ground, she looked up at him, and he looked at her. It was then she knew she was falling in love with him.

Falling in love with the way he laughed when she fucked up.

Falling in love with the way he yelled at the TV when he played the PlayStation.

Falling in love with the arguments of him putting extra onions he put on his burgers.

Falling in love, with him.

She knew she would do anything it took to get him. She would stay months on end if she had to. She wanted, no, NEEDED him.

After she met him, the scars started to heal.

After she met him, she started to take school a little more seriously.

After she met him, her fake smiles started turning into real ones.

After she met him... She knew she would be okay.

So I lay here in bed, typing our story, as you try to fall asleep on the phone with me. Today is December 14, 2020. 2:49am.

I'm here telling you, my love, that you will never have to worry about me leaving you. You have helped me in more ways than you can imagine.

Baby, I truly believe that you are my person.

And I'm here telling you, I love you. I know it's been rough getting to where we are. I know it takes a lot of faith and hope for you to trust me, or anyone for that matter, but I wouldn't change anything. I am so deeply, heavily in love with you, I don't know what I would do if you were gone.

I know this isn't much in the terms of a Christmas present, but I hope it works. I love you, baby. Merry Christmas ✨
