"I have never met anyone as intriguing as you, my love." A Dark Elf lay sprawled on his bed, seemingly looking into the shadows. An odd voice came from the corner his blood red eyes were staring into.
"Baletis, of course you haven't. But really, we must talk. Nothing like our child has ever happened before. I don't know if she will live through the first week of her life. And it is not safe for her to stay with you, no matter how much you yearn for it. Too many men will question her origin."
The Dunmer nodded and sat upright, his hair falling behind his shoulders. "I know, I know. But what are we supposed to do with her? Just give her away?"
An awkward pause came from his hidden lover. Making a noise of saddened agreement, she thought of how she made up her mind ago about her plans for Dusk. "It is what is best." Nodding, the elf motioned for her to continue. "I heard of a family of Dark Elves who recently moved from Morrowind to Solitude. I thought they would be the perfect cover for our daughter. New elves in town, why would it be odd for them to travel with a daughter? Three days from now she shall be left on their doorstep with a journal explaining parts of who she is. I will leave them directions to give the journal to her when she is of age, so she may come find you, then together, journey to me."
"But what will happen when she discovers us and who we are?" Baletis seemed skeptic, maybe because it was his firstborn.
A baby wailed in the distance, hungry. "That, my Baletis, is for her to decide."
