Hermione stomped to the doors of the Great Hall, mumbling under her breath. She paused once she reached the doors, taking a minute to calm her anger at her husband. It's been 10 years since she's seen Harry, Ginny, or Ron. Or any of her old friends, besides Luna. Hermione decided to go back to Hogwarts after the war, while Ron and Harry went straight into the auror program at the Ministry. Hermione and Ron decided to put their relationship on hold while she was back at Hogwarts, and after graduation Hermione moved straight to Australia to find her parents instead of moving in with Ron like he hoped. She married her now husband while there, and she never came back.
Now it was the 10 year reunion and her overbearing husband tried his hardest to get her to miss it. When the invite came, they argued but eventually agreed that she would be attending with him, however, at their healer appointment last week, she mentioned that Hermione was not resting enough and had too much stress. This caused her husband to try to lock her in their room before the reunion and come without her. It took her almost 30 minutes to get through all his locking charms.
Hermione took a few calming breaths, steeling her nerves to see her friends again, and pushing aside the anger at her overprotective, prat of a husband. She brushed her hands down her dress, smoothing out the creases over her fairly prominent baby bump. Squaring her shoulders and lifting her chin, like her mother-in-law taught her, she pushed open the doors and walked into the reunion.
The Hall was packed. The groups right next to the door saw her and starting whispering, but overall she entered without gaining much attention. Thank Merlin, she thought considering she was about 30 minutes late. She walked towards the refreshment table, scanning the crowd for her old friends. She saw her husband across the room, standing with a group of their friends but thankfully his back was to her. She felt her anger at him start to resurface and quickly pushed it down when she finally spotted a group of redheads in front of her. She took another deep breath and approached the group.
"Hello" She said to the group. They all turned and stared at her blankly for a few moments until finally someone recognized her.
"Hermione..?" Ginny whispered, seeming to be unsure still.
"Hey Gin." Hermione answered with a grin.
"AHhh!!" Ginny said with a squeal, launching herself at Hermione. "I've missed you so much! Where have you been all this time?!"
"I can't answer your questions if I can't breath Gin." Hermione said with a laugh, stepping back out her friends tight embrace. She turned to look at the man standing next to Ginny.
"Hi Harry."
"'Mione." Harry breathed, pulling her into a tight hug. "Merlin, I've missed you."
"Oh Harry, I missed you so much!" Hermione said, choking up a little bit.
"What about me?" Asked to redhead on the other side of Ginny.
"Ron. Of coursed I missed you." Hermione said with a small smile. Ron grinned and pulled her into a tight hug, that in her opinion lasted a few seconds too long. She caught Pansy's eye over Ron's shoulder. The witch smirked and winked at Hermione, and Hermione rolled her eyes and stepped back out of Ron's hold.
Ron stepped closer to her again, putting his arm around her shoulder. Hermione grimaced slightly, a gesture that didn't go unnoticed by Ginny and Harry, who exchanged a quick look. Ron of course, was oblivious.
"Where have you been, 'Mione? I've.. I mean we have been waiting for you to come back for 10 years now!" Ron asked, his arm tightening around her shoulder.
"I've been in Australia. Im sorry I didn't write or anything, it was just so hectic trying to find my parents and then reverse the spell. By the time I finally managed to be successful, so much time had passed and I decided to stay there and start over, away from the press and publicity." Hermione explained.
