I'm now standing at the entrance of the church. In usual scenarios, girls will get giddy and nervous because of excitement, because they're marrying the love of their life.
But in my case, I'm giddy and excited for two reasons: one, I'm about to make trouble, and two, I'm getting paid for it.
Since it's a wedlock between two powerful families, it's a given they'll have lots of guests, mostly old people. I'm guessing they are business partners.
The wedding march started playing, which means it's my cue to walk.
But where's the thrill on that kung hindi ko sila paghihintayin diba?
"Twinkle twinkle little star" I started singing in a low volume. "How I wonder what you are"
I can already hear the whispers of the guests, siguro nagtataka sila kung bakit hindi pa ako naglalakad sa aisle.
"Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky."
I wonder who composed this song?
"Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are."
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy biiiirthday happy biiiirthday, happy biiirrthday to yooouuuu."
An old man approached me, "Genevieve! Ano pang hinihintay mo?!" he whispered in an angry manner. I think ito yung papa nila Miguel.
"Don't tell me you're still planning to run away?" oh c'mon sir, your daughter already did.
"Pa, give me more time to prepare please." I said, feigning sadness. I even acted like I was wiping my tear
He looked down and sighed, then looked at me apologetically
"I'm so sorry, princess. But our company needs the Branzuelas to survive, you know that right?" this time, malambot na yung pagkakasabi niya
I didn't know that, but I just nodded anyways.
"5 minutes" I whispered to myself.
I stalled for 5 minutes already, 15 minutes left at matatangap ko na ang 50,000 ko.
The old man hugged me, and I have no other choice but to hug him back. Ang awkward naman nito.
I just don't get rich people. They are willing to sacrifice their children just for the sake of their business? Aba matindi!
He let go of me (FINALLY) and looked at me with teary eyes
"Let's go na anak. Your groom is waiting for you." He said with an encouraging smile
I hooked my hand in his outstretched arm, which made his smile wider.
And finally, we started walking down the aisle. I walked in a slower pace than the usual, kaya nagtatakang tinignan ako ni tanda
"I want to savor the moment, pa" sabi ko nalang.
May nakita pa nga akong nag sign of the cross.
