Paragon: Awakening The Dragon

Chapter 1: Recruited

The sun rose up over a small town with a population of no more then 5000 people. The ocean on one side land on the other. This little town had little to no real crime. Well so I thought, my name is John and I'm just a regular kid. My family is nice, we don't spend much time together but their there. My home was once a peaceful place until these paragons were discovered. Paragons are people who have abnormal abilities from a genetic mutation. These people are labeled as paragons. Paragons match the powers of mythological beasts. They match their powers natures and weaknesses. The thing about the mutation is that no one knows how or when these mutations start. Some say it's the government, others say it's nature saying fuck the humans.

I remember sitting in home room when the first announcement over to the pa system.

Humans a fragile state of life. You creatures have lived a weak and meaningless time. Humans have ruled the world for thousands of years. In that time you humans have only brought for rott and carnage. I am a paragon I am the future of this planet. I plead to the humans to surrender in peace. As for the other paragons rise up and join me. Serve in my army and you will receive a reward for your service. My first order is mayhem on the humans. If they deny subjugated life then death is their only option. Once you have done this you will hear from me once more. This is your new king speaking. YOUR PARAGON KING.

At first there was the buzz of the PA system. Next was the sound of chairs sqweeking as students stood up. Their eyes dark and sullen as they just stood there.

"Class I want you to sit down right now. This is some stupid prank by some freak show. We all know that the paragons can't be smart enough to act out like that. They are just mutated little monsters." Said the teacher moving to the front of the class.

"What do you know about us. We suffer each day acting like you disgusting humans in fear. But the truth is that you humans are weaker then us. You can't even stop us" said Ryan at the front. His tone dark and brooding. He walked towards Mr. Parker his hands in a fist. Before Parker could say anything Ryan jumped on him. He bit into his neck ripping out his throat. Blood sprayed over Ryan as he smiled with a psychotic grin. "Kill" was all he said when all hell broke loose in the class.

Students began attacking others some using claws others teeth. Blood sprayed every which way. I felt the fear shake me from head to toe as they killed each other. The paragon kids seemed to know who was what when it came to attacking. The humans just ran as fast as they could. I had noticed that if a paragon refused to kill they too were killed like the humans. I grabbed my phone and ran out the classroom.  The hallways were just as bad as students attacked teachers and security. I ran past them hoping none would notice me. It was when I was around my locker did I get caught. Ryan slammed me against a locker his eyes blood red. His face cover in blood as he grinned.

"You think you were gonna just run from this John. You and your perfect little life get to go on as others die. No I'm going to end you my self." Ryan said as he opened his mouth showing vampire like fangs. He went to bite me when someone reached around and slit his throat clean open. Blood sprayed all over my face. Ryan fell back letting go of my shoulder. I fell to my knees realizing I had almost died.

"If you really want to die stay there otherwise follow me." Said the guy who saved me. There was four others waiting by. I stood up looking at them. Three guys and two females, they each had some sort of weapon. They were gonna fight their way out of here.  "I'm Christian, that's Mark, Arthur, Celeste, and Miya. We are in need of more people willing to fight. So join us and we will get ya out of here." Said Christian holding out a dagger.  I was about to shake my head when a few paragons appeared around a corner. The four quickly moved attacking them. They moved as a unit slicing and bashing the paragons to death.

"I may be weak but I want to be strong.....make me strong" I said grabbing the dagger. Christian smiled patting my shoulder before nodding to them. We began moving through the halls as students fought against the paragons. Christian passed them up even if there was a chance to save them.

"If we stop to save them all then we wouldn't have enough force to protect them. Sacrifices to survival are...." Christian was cut off by a paragon jumping him. I jumped at the same time taking the paragon to the ground. My mind was in a dark place as all I could think was these monsters destroyed my peaceful life. When I came back to reality I had killed four all together. Blood and skin covered my arms. I felt a rise in my stomach till I puked everything I had in me.

We piled up into two cars even with all the blood in us. Christian day next to me in the back. I couldn't remember what he was saying. All I could think about was that sight of the blood and flesh. It wasn't till I liked out side the window. The small town was like a war zone. The paragon were everywhere, attacking any human they could find.

Then the radio buzzed......

My children I am glad to see you are willing to serve your king. It seems some choose to run from their rite of passage. My children find them and force them to taste the blood of humans. Show them what it means to be PARAGON. As for the humans who submitted, you choose well. You will come to your town hall where my personally picked officials will be. Also I want you my children and humans to hear this.......

My fellow Americans....this is your president speaking...this menace we have been fighting in secret is now out. I apologize for failing you as your president as your chief but as your leader. As I speak to you hear and now I face my demise. My punishment for not trying to bring our would to a better place. I plead with you end the blood shed. Surrender.....Surrender......Surrender.....Surrender................

No wait you said that if...........AHHH GHAHHHH

That was the last time anyone had heard from the president. All the more to make that announcement even more effective. My only question was this.... What was this all meaning and....who is it that just recruited me?
