The sound of the rain hitting the glass is near deafening, its random tapping is hypnotic. David can’t stop his fingers from copying the random drumming by creating his own matching rhythm of chaos on the table. The rain is heavy enough for his white shirt to get very wet from travelling from his car and into the otherwise barren roadside café. The shirt has absorbed the rain and had become a little see through whilst sticking to his skin. His brown hair is flat against his head and water droplets are falling onto the table that his fingers use to slide across the table. He draws in a long slow breath before exhaling. “Are you ok sir?” asks a gentle voice that pulls him out of his trance.

“Yes I’m fine but I could do with a towel please if you don’t mind.” A hand holding a towel immediately turns up in front of his face. He lifts his hands and takes it. “Thank you very much.”

“Can I get you anything else like a warm drink?” It was at this point and after David had wiped his face and hair is when his eyes lock onto hers.

“Wow.” He said and she smiles back at him. He feels his face begin to burn up. “I’m sorry.” He said as he pulls his eyes away from her sparkling emeralds and turns them towards her name badge. “Kim I would love a warm pot of coffee.”

“Absolutely I will be back shortly.” She turns on her white flat shoes and walks off back towards the counter. ‘Pull yourself together David’ he thinks, ‘She is at least half your age.’ This thought doesn’t stop the smile appearing on his face. At least if he’s stuck here due to the terrible weather then at least he has someone beautiful to look at. David continues to dry himself off with the towel and he unbuttons a couple of shirt buttons to dry off his chest.

“Well please don’t let me stop you from undoing the rest of your buttons.” Says Kim as she sits across the table from David.

“Well then Kim you’re pretty forward in your servicing approach aren’t you?”

“It’s a part of the job, I enjoy the servicing of handsome men.” She poured a coffee into a cup and places it on the table.

“Well in that case I must say you’re doing a fantastic job.” He smiles at her, a smile that brings a smile to her face also.

“If you play your cards right today I will give you a real servicing and you can start by giving me your name handsome.” Now if he was brutally honest he has had many a fantasy of this scenario. David is forty five and Kim must be, in his guess about twenty one or twenty two. She has tinted her hair a teal colour that mixes beautifully with her black hair. The black bow on top also is a nice touch. To David she certainly does tick every single box.

“My name is David and whilst you want to know more about me I must tell you that I am married.”

“Well David, honesty is such a turn on and if you notice I wear a ring on my wedding finger also.” She flashes her hand out in front of her face and wiggles her fingers. “But I can guarantee that we both won’t be getting home to our respective partners tonight. So why not have a little fun.”

David turned his head to see the rain falling harder and the dark clouds covering all of the sky. Even though it’s only early evening you could easily be forgiven in thinking that the night is drawing in. “I have a long way to travel to get home.”

“Didn’t you hear the news?”

“What news?”

“That all roads are being closed due to the dangers of this weather, it said that all vehicles apart from emergency vehicles are being banned from travelling due to the loss of life risk. So we’re stuck here. Just you and me until further notice.” David can easily tell by the tone of her voice that she is more than happy to be stuck here with him.
