----------------------------------------------

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. A sound I hadn't missed the last couple days. It was way better being woken up by Derek. I slowly crawled out of bed, making my way to the bathroom. My hair was a disaster. I turned the faucet on to luke warm, drenching my hair. I threw in some shampoo and conditioner and wrapped my hair up in a towel. I smelt food cooking; I immediately walked down to the kitchen. Derek was cooking.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty. Want some breakfast before your first day of school?" He smiled at me. How was he so perfect, even after just waking up?
"That would be great, thank you." I smiled back at him. He set a plate of pancakes in front of me. They had butter on them and just the perfect amount of syrup. I ate quickly. I was quite nervous about starting my first day.
"Let me take that from you." Derek grabbed my empty plate, setting it in the sink.
"I'm going to finish getting ready for school." I smiled at Derek as I walked back upstairs. Great, I had boxes to search through in order to find an outfit. Luckily I was able to find nice outfit in the first box. The weather here was way different than in New York. I grabbed a navy blue sun dress. It was sleeveless with a plain navy blue top and a colorful floral skirt to it. I grabbed some gold sandals and found my white cardigan to put over it. Once again, I made my way to the bathroom to try out some of the makeup tricks Stacy had taught me. I left my hair down, feeling too lazy to do anything to it.
"Hayleigh, are you ready to go?" Derek yelled up the stairs to me.
"Yeah, let me just grab my backpack."
"It's down here. It has all new school supplies in it as well." I smiled. He really knew how to take care of someone. I walked downstairs, looking at Derek. He was smiling at me; I couldn't help but blush.
"Can I drive?" I smiled at him.
"Oh, I suppose. Just don't crash." He laughed as he handed me the keys.

It was about a fifteen minute drive from my new house to the school. I had no problems finding it either, surprisingly. I pulled up into the circle; kids were hoarding the fresh cut, green lawns of this huge school. Derek and I both got out of the car. I walked over to him.
"Take this, just in case you need to get ahold of me." He handed me a cell phone.
"Is this part of my everyday life? Can I give people this number to get ahold of me?"
"Of course. Just be careful. Follow your gut instinct, and if you feel weird about someone, tell me. I will check them out for you." He smiled as he hugged me. I hugged him back. He smelt so good; I almost didn't want to let go.
"Thanks, Derek. You've been so amazing."
"It's my job. I'll be right here to pick you up after school, okay?"
"Okay." I smiled at him.
"Have a good first day." He smiled, getting back into the car. I walked up the paved walkway to the stairs. They were huge. I slowly made my way up them. I could feel all eyes on me. Why wouldn't they be? The school was big but small at the same time. I'm sure everyone knew everyone, and they all probably knew I was the new kid. Luckily the front desk was to your left when you walked in the door.
"How may I help you, sweetie?" The lady behind the desk asked me. She seemed nice. She had short, blonde hair. She had librarian glasses, but they complemented her face.
"I'm Hayleigh Sweeney. This is my first day." She smiled.
"Ah, Hayleigh. We've been expecting you!" I smiled, but I felt very worried.
"Any particular reason?" I looked at her, confused.
"Your grades are amazing. When we got your transcript from your other school, we were excited to have someone like you at our school! Now I must say, we don't have specific classes for 'smart' people, but I think you'll do just fine." She smiles at me, handing me my schedule and a map of the school.
"Thank you." I said kindly.
"If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by!" I smiled at her, looking at my schedule. Math first in room 304. I looked at the map. My class was on the second floor. I made my way up the stairs. I could still feel everyone's eyes on me, but I ignored it. I found my classroom and walked in. I saw the teacher sitting at her desk. There was only two other students in the class so far.
"Hello, I'm Hayleigh Sweeney." The teacher had a big smile.
"What an hour to have you in my class. Pick any seat you'd like." I looked around, finding a seat close to the window. No sooner had i sat down, a girl in a white V-neck t-shirt with a short pink skirt on walked over to me.
"Hayleigh? I'm jasmine. Everyone calls me jas. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, as well. How does everyone know who I am?"
"It's not very often we have a new student, and when we do get one, they're usually nerdy and keep to themselves. You, on the other hand, are smart and quite beautiful." I smiled at her.
"Thank you. I'm hoping it'll be easy to make friends here."
"I promise it will be! Let me invite you to a party on Friday night. It'll give you a chance to meet the rest of the senior class." She smiled. She was really pretty. She had long blonde hair which looked naturally straight. She had a perfect smile and she did her make up to compliment her eyes.
"Sounds great!"
"Here's my number. Text me when you get a chance and I'll give you the directions!" I smiled at her, nodding my head. With that, jas made her way back to her seat. I just noticed that the class had filled up. The teacher started her lesson.
