I wish there were hospitals and pain pills back then. Our Mother, the Titan Leto, was not only pregnant with triplets, but instead of settling down to give birth to my siblings and I, she had to go from island to island, running for her life being pursued by a vengeful goddess and a four legged giant, titan eating snake.
When she finally found a place to give birth on the floating island of Delos, she gave birth to my sister, Artemis. Artemis assisted in the birth of Apollo and me.
Apollo went next, to my relief, and while he struck everyone dumb with his annoying dances and songs, Artemis remembered, “Oh yeah! There’s still Alixa!”
So, while the other goddesses that had assembled to help Mother were politely clapping at our brother, Artemis delivered me.
The moment I was out, I was gone.
I took on my duties of balancing dusk, dawn, eclipses, dreams and bringing the stars to the night sky. But I was never heard or seen. Sometimes, I hear Leto, Artemis and even Apollo praying and sacrificing to me.
I took on ten huntresses, my sleigh of silver wolves, my weapons, and my jobs that are taken for granted by the other immortals.
It’s now the 21st Century. I’ve been alive for eons. I’ve disguised myself as a mortal for millions of years, but not once have I come onto the other Olympian’s radar.
But I finally told myself, it’s now or never.
