"DAD?" We heard Sophie shout from outside his bedroom door and we both shot up like unwrapped naked mummies from a tomb.

"SHIT!" Lucas and I mumbled looking at each other in a panic.

I knew it was a bad idea to stay over but then again it didn't take much convincing with a flick of his tongue on my skin and his words telling me, "She could sleep through a tornado! And she doesn't wake up before 10 on the weekends." and that was all it took for one kiss to lead to another and another and more that lasted until dawn.

"Dad? Are you awake?" she asked again, knocking on his door as we practically fell out of bed fumbling for our clothes thrown all over the floor.

"YEAH, I'm up! I'll be right there!" Lucas shouted back to her, throwing on his pants.

"What are we going to do?" I whispered, panicking.

"I don't know! I don't know why she's awake, it's 6:30!" throwing a shirt over his head.

"Stay here and I'll see what she wants." Heading for the door, he stopped and turned around, diving into my face with a kiss. "I'm still happy you stayed," whispering against my lips before he exited the bedroom leaving the door cracked open.

"Soph, what is it? Why are you awake so early?" I heard him ask her, sounding concerned.

"Your phone has been ringing all morning! You didn't hear it?" Soph replied with sass and I laughed to myself wondering who's really the one who would sleep through a tornado?

"Oh!" He answered surprised.

"Wait, Sydney's still here?" I heard Sophie ask, sounding excited but my body froze feeling anxious.

"Umm, I..umm...no?" Lucas tried to deny it all flustered.

"But that's her coat and purse on the couch? And she didn't take her bag of cookies!" It was no use, we adults had just been busted by a seven-year-old detective.

"She ummm, ok yeah, she...got stuck here with...the snowstorm that unexpectedly came last night!"

"SNOW!" She shouted instantly, losing interest in catching us in the act.

Lucas came back in the room looking stressed and panicked but once our eyes met we both couldn't help but blush and laugh thinking the same thing. He brought his attention to his cell phone which made him look concerned all over again as he listened to his voicemails.

"FUCK!" he shouted, combing his fingers through his hair.

"What's wrong?" I asked nervously.

"A pipe burst in the shop! They couldn't open this morning!"

"Oh noo!" I said with a sour face imagining how messy that could be.

"I have to go in and see how bad the damage is," pacing the room until he paced his way out into the family room.

"Is there something I can do to help?" I asked following behind him.

"Hi, Sydney!" Sophie said and I had completely forgotten about getting caught staying the night and I had no idea how to act.

"H-hii!"

"Dad, can we all go sledding today?" Sophie asked excitedly, and it at least calmed my nerves she wasn't upset or wondering why I was still here.

"I can't, I have to go to the coffee shop, Soph. A pipe burst from the storm last night."

"Can I come too?"

"No baby, I don't know how bad the damage is," he said as something dawned on him.

"Crap! Abbie is away with her friends for the weekend."
