"how could i hate her? she's such an angel"

"rai, i literally do not understand this at all," i whispered to my best friend who sat at the desk next to me.

rai was staring blankly at the chalkboard which was filled with physics equations.

"you think i understand this shit any better than you do?"

"i hate physics get me out of here."

you gave up any hope of learning and opted to placing your head on your desk, tracing the pencil markings left on its surface with the eraser of your pencil. senior year couldn't go by any slower.

"hey, in other news, have you heard kiyoko talking about the volleyball team?"

you perked up at the words 'volleyball team'. it had been a few days since your more official encounter with daichi and sugawara and you couldn't help but wonder how they were doing.

"no, i don't think i have."

"well, turns out that they're trying to get an official coach. kiyoko said some guy that organizes their games and things, takeda i think, is trying to get keishin as their coach."

"huh, that's an interesting choice."

she continued, "yeah, well, i hope you don't mind but i mentioned to you to kiyoko since you work at his shop every now and then."

"yeah no, that's fine!" i reply, trying not to sound too enthusiastic.

the thought of helping out the volleyball was incredibly exciting. plus, seeing keishin coach would be hilarious.

your day had completely drained you. so, before heading over to sakanoshita market for your shit, you decided to treat yourself to a sweet treat at the vending machine.

you plopped a few coins into the slot, opting out for a strawberry milk. you took the drink from the machine, opened it, and took a sip. it was perfectly refreshing and sweet, the best way to end school.

however, as you turned to leave the machine, you almost bumped headfirst into a staff member with glasses and unruly hair. luckily your milk didn't spill

"i'm so sorry," you apologized fervently, quickly bowing in embarrassment.

"oh it's no problem at all!" the man laughed nervously, waving his hand side to side.

from your bowed position you could see the time on the man's watch and realized . . .

shit i should leave before i'm late for my shift!

"what was that?" the man asked, head tilted in question as you rose from your bow.

"oh, sorry! i have a job at sakanoshita market down the road and my shift starts in like a few minutes."

"the place that keishin owns?"

you raised a brow at his question. the few regulars who knew keishin by name did not fit the look of the guy that stood in front of you.

"yeah, it is . . . you go by often?"

the man chuckled awkwardly. "you could say that. i've been there pretty often the past week."

i nod in understanding. "they do have pretty good meat buns!"

"no, no," the man protested with another awkward laugh, "i'm not there for the meat buns. i've actually been trying to get a coach for the volleyball team."
