I gracefully stepped into the grand front doors of the famous manor i've visited many times before, rib cage being crushed by the corset that was tied far too tightly under my ridiculously expensive gown. It was a deep, forrest sort of green much like my school tie. The dress showed off my curves magnificently and hugged my waist like a glove.

I had developed quite greatly over the summer period. I never thought much of it until I began receiving an extensive amount of male attention.

The light chattering and laughing and the clinking of champagne glasses filled the large foyer that was now doubling as the ballroom, not that the Malfoy's needed another one.

"Why was it that you insist I attend this dire party again Father?" I raised an eyebrow while crossing my arms over my stomach.

My Father is a very well respected man, being so high up in the ministry and all. Our family has a reputation that he strives to uphold every second he breathes and he suffocates me with the responsibility of carrying on the family legacy, or whatever.

My Father and I were very close when I was young, but ever since my mother passed when I had barely turned 12, he grew distant and now we barely exchange a word to each other unless it's about my grades, my future or another stupid party like this one.

"Don't be rude Amelia, the Malfoy's are extremely respected by the ministry and besides, don't you know their boy? What's his name again..." Father furrowed his eyebrows in deep though as he couldn't quite think of the name he was looking for.

"Draco..." I sighed. Draco and I had an odd relationship, if you could even call it a relationship, It's more of an acquaintanceship. We're both in Slytherin of course and we shared our group of friends, but we never really saw eye-to-eye on things.

We both were easily the smartest people in our year, including Granger. This caused problems and arguments over things like test scores, homework answers, who could name every verbal hex the fastest and who would win in a duel. Our friends think it's flirting but in reality, he is one of the most insufferable people i've ever met with an ego bigger than a goblins nose.

"Ah yes that's the one, you know if things go well tonight with his parents then he could very well be your future spouse, so you better be on your best behaviour. No nonsense Amelia." And with that he immediately walked away towards a group of men dressed in suits and bow ties.

I dramatically roll my eyes and huff loudly, he knows I despise when anybody calls me by my full name, it's too posh and proper and I loathe it with every ounce of hatred I have. I prefer Myla although I'm often referred to by my last name, Berkley.

I spot Nova and Pansy over by the drinks table, I wander over quickly in attempt to not be stopped by some of my mothers old friends who'd only tell me how much i've grown to look like her.

"Myla!" Pansy yelped in excitement.

"Hey Panz" I barely got out before she leaped in to hug me tight.

"Okay pansy my turn, don't hog her!" Nova says while trying to pry Pansy off of me so she could hug me herself.

"I've missed you both so much" I smiled as a waiter hands me a glass of what I presume is champagne.

"We missed you too baby, how was Paris?" Nova asks, taking a sip from her own glass.

"Draining. Fathers new fiancé Alice is possibly the most irritating, despicable woman i've ever met" This was no lie, my Father moved on from my mothers death in less than a month and has officially been married another 3 times since then, soon to be 4. "She treats me like i'm 5 years old and wouldn't even let me go out on my own. Father agrees with everything she ever says and it's so infuriating" I ranted on about how much I disliked my new stepmother until we were suddenly interrupted.
