"crucio!"

the relentless agony from the spell used against zemora black caused her to wither in the seat she remained bound to by the robes spelled around her wrists. the screams of the young girl bounced off the walls within the parlor of the malfoy manor, loud enough for the likes of draco malfoy to hear.

draco resided just outside the locked doors of the parlor, his back pressed against the wall as he simply suffered listening to the excruciating screams of torment from the one he loved most in the world.

the miserable moments occurred nearly all summer, yet the torture curse had yet to be used until mere days they were set to return to the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

everyday draco could be found sitting outside the parlor, torturing hisself with the knowledge he couldn't protect zemora. at least, not against the likes of his own father. it was an overwhelming sense of guilt, one draco malfoy never had in his life experienced until the sounds of her screams haunted his nightmares.

zemora black let out a shallow breath once the spell was lifted, her head falling weakly to the side as memories of the ones she loved found their way to the front of her mind.

harry's smiling features seemed imprinted within her brain. hermione's laugh echoed through her ears as ron's playful teasing followed suit. draco's touch seemed to linger upon her skin in regards to every hug and every kiss pressed to the top of her head. every moment the unforgivable curse was used, zemora became lost in memories in order to keep her sanity intact.

"please, no more."

"have you learned your lesson, zemora?" lucius was leaning his hands against the back of the chair zemora remained stuck within, his words falling in a taunting sense. "have you learned not to fail me again? you could've ruined everything. do you understand the severity of your actions against this family?"

"yes," zemora whispered out, refusing to glance up as lucius made his way to stand mere inches from her frame. "i understand. just, please, not again."

zemora felt weak begging the man. she felt weak knowing there was absolutely no way to save herself from the relentless torment of the man who'd spent a near decade and a half raising her. it was a reminder she was born to simply live the fate as the heir of the most wretched sorcerer in the world even the likes of lucius malfoy could never best.

zemora black was a grab for power from every person meant to love her unconditionally, and the knowledge of the fact sent a rage so deeply into her soul. she was sure the rage would never falter, at least until she was six feet under in an afterlife she wasn't sure existed.
