The idea of life and human beings had always intrigued Julia. The theory of needing a lover, family and someone to call your own seemed absurd. If she was an individual being bought into this life alone - and then she would leave alone. Why would she need another individual to be dependent on? It would only cause problems and teach her to rely on someone else. She couldn't do that, she didn't need that. When she was younger, around Angel's age she had to rely on others the same way sister relies on her. But as she grew older, Julia realised being dependent on anyone else is a mistake no one could afford to make.Julia's thoughts were trapped and circling her mind and even though she should be worried about the events that had taken places at Roma's, she was too busy thinking about her sister's future. She had picked up Angel almost an hour ago and after dropping off Rob's car the girls walked hand in hand back to their crummy apartment. Worries and problems seemed to fade away when the two sister spent time together. It felt real, the idea of having a family and Julia felt content.
Angel was bouncing around the small kitchen whilst blowing bubbles using the bubble blower they had picked up on their way back. Her hair was tangled and framed the child's face, somehow managing making her look even more innocent. And in that moment Julia realised that Angel was in fact, still innocent and only a child. Her mind grew more restless at the thought of Angel spending her life in a town as dangerous as Westwood.
"Can we go out somewhere Lea?" Angel called out, using the nickname she had given to Julia when she was much younger and could not properly pronounce her sister's name.
"We most definitely can but where?" Julia replied taking a hold of her sister and settling her on the small kitchen counter.
"i think i want to go the park.."
"you think?" Julia replied whilst suppressing a giggle at her sister's cuteness.
"im not sure.. can we go to the park Lea?"
"of course we can but first i need you to grab your boots and coat okay?"
"okay"
Angel sped off to her room and Julia stared in wonder as she focused on gathering her coat and bag.
The walk to the park was short and filled with laughter. Angel skipped and ran, pausing to jump in puddles that had been left behind from the earlier downpour. Julia walked behind at her own pace but never let Angel out of her sight. The park was deserted, but then again no sane person would visit the park on a November night at five in the evening when its almost getting dark.
Angel ran straight to the wet swings and yelled for Julia to push her. Even though Julia questioned both her and her sister's safety she let it slip to the back of her mind and focused on pushing her sister. The pair had spent ages laughing and playing about on the swings and Julia had begun to realise this when she noticed the sky was now bathed in a dark blue - almost black and decorated in dimly lit stars.
Julia called for her sister to hurry and leave, but a scream and stopped them for the second time that day. Turing around and frantically searching for the source of the scream Julia knew she should take Angel and run home but something in her willed her to stay.
Angle had Julia's hand clutched tightly as she stuck by her sister's side not questioning anything. Julia had heard the rumours the townspeople had told about the forest boy and every single word said had been forgotten until that moment. It made her wonder, could it really be true?
"He killed his parents."
"He hunts innocent beings and then locks them away to torture them"
"He's ruthless."
"They say he had a brother."
"He doesn't know about emotions."
"He tortures his victims until they can't take it anymore."
Had.
Ruthless.
Killer.
Hunter.
Victims.
Torture.
Snippets of conversations and rumours Julia had heard swam around her head. But she was confused, all of this could be false but even she knew that who ever 'he' was, was completely and utterly ruthless - that is if 'he' exists.
Angel tugged at Julia's hand, begging her to leave, but the look of pure curiosity in Julia's eyes made her stop and just wait. She had always trusted her sisters decisions and she knew it would be best if she continued to do so.
Frightened was not a word strong enough to describe how Julia felt right now. Her legs were shaking and Angel's hand felt damp against her own. The scream had come out of no where, but then left them in a stunned silence. Julia wanted to help - she really did, but that wasn't an option. She couldn't go there, Julia know for a fact that if she did she would not only be endangering her life but her sister's aswell.
Julia didn't realise how long she had just stood there, staring at nothing but feeling like something was there. Someone, was there. And even though it might seem crazy but Julia felt as if she was being watched, and even crazier was that she felt a pull towards whatever or whoever was watching her. Julia wanted to go and wanted to see, but she had to think logically. She had to do what was best and get out of here because lets face it; curiosity killed the cat.
Finally finding sanity again, Julia gently tugged at her little sister's hand letting her know they were making their way home.
Both females sauntered to exit of the park, breaths shallow and minds going crazy with the thoughts of what had just happened - or more precisely in Julia's case what had not happened. She had wanted to go see but that would mean putting her sister's life at risk and the twenty-one year old would never take that risk. Ever.
