when the snow falls

chapter one

i'm sitting in my room in a chair playing love story on the violin trying to escape from the world for a little bit when i hear my door open causing me stop. "why'd you stop ?" my best friend Florence asks as she enters my room and closes the door.
"you scared me. i wasn't expecting anybody over today." i say as i put lay my violin down on my thighs.
"where is everyone ? the house is so quite" Flora asks as she sits down on my bed.
  "mum and Tobias took Heather and Alexander to our grandparents house in Oklahoma to visit."
  "why didn't you go ?"
  "i couldn't get off work. although Mr. Bly is a lovely boss, he can't really afford to let people off work whenever right now. which is okay. i didn't feel like going back there just yet."
"i see. would you like to go out into the garden ? or maybe go for an adventure with Charles and Jasper ?"
just has she says that my phone starts to ring. i look at it and see that Jasper is calling me. i answer , "hello ?" i say.
"hey there Diana. listen , Charles and i found this abandoned mental hospital and we wanted to go there here in like twenty minutes. it's said to be haunted by the patients that have died there. would you and Flora like to join us ?"
i look at Flora and ask "wanna go to and abandoned mental hospital with Charles and Jasper ?"
she starts nodding her head excitedly.
"yeah we'd love to. where will we meet ?"
"Charles and i can come to your house and we can go in his car altogether since he has a bigger car."
"mines is faster though" i say.
"there are lots of bumpy dirt roads over there Diana. i don't think you want your fancy little bmw driving around over there"
i sigh and say "fiiine. then how about we take Flora's truck ? it's really good on dirt roads. if that's okay with her of course." i say as i look at her and she nods her head.
"alright. we'll be at your house in five minutes. be ready."
"yes sir" i say as i hang up. "they'll be here in five minutes."
"i'm so excited!" flora says as i put my violin and bow away. i stand up and say "me too!"
  i walk over to my closet and change into a pair of high wasted mum jeans, a black t-shirt that shows a little cleavage, socks, a pair of black high top converse, and a black coat to finish my look on this fine winter day. i put my hair into a high ponytail as the doorbell rings. i grab my phone and keys and walk out of my bedroom, Florence not far behind me. we run down the stairs and i open to front door and see Jasper. "hello there Jasper"
"bloody hell Diana. always looking fabulous"
"thank you darling. now, let's go exploring!!" i say as i close the front door and lock it. we walk over to Flora's tall black 4x4 truck and say hello to Charles. we made the boys get in the backseats so i could sit in the passengers seat next to my dear sister.
we finally leave and i enjoy the beauty of the trees surrounding the side of the roads.
"so how far is it from here ?" i ask.
  "at least an hour." Charles says.
"lovely. who wants to listen to some orchestra music while we drive ?" i ask.
  everyone in the car says, "i dooo" and i kinda chuckle as i connect the aux to my phone and orchestra music starts playing. mostly piano. we drive in silence listening to the beautiful music, besides the times Charles tells Florence where to turn and when to go straight.
  we finally arrive at the abandoned mental hospital and the moment i stepped out of the car i felt a strange feeling. sort of like someone was watching me. i didn't say anything to anyone about it though because i usually always sense this type of stuff when we go on adventures at abandoned places.
  "do you feel that ?" Charles asks.
"what exactly ?" Jasper asks.
  "we're not alone here" he says as we walk towards the building.
"it feels like a female is watching us. i don't quite know how i know it's a female. but i can feel it is." i say.
"i feel that too" Charles says.
we walk around a little bit in the inside and my heart hurt when i saw the torture rooms. it broke my heart that people had to go through that suffering.
"i hope the people that tortured these helpless people got what they deserved" i say.
"yeah. these people were so helpless. one against many evil doctors. it's terrible." Flora says.
the more we walked around the hospital the more i felt the feeling. i looked into one of the rooms as we were walking by and i saw a girl standing by the window, looking right at us. i stopped and took a couple steps back to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me. they were. there was absolutely nobody there.
"you okay there love ?" Charles asks.
  "yeah. i just thought i saw something."
  he walks over to me and puts his arm around my shoulder as we all continue walking.
  "that feeling is so strange" i say
  "what feeling ?" he asks.
  "the feeling that someone is watching us. i could've sworn i saw a girl in that one room. and when we were walking past it i could feel it was her. watching us."
  "what did she look like ?" Jasper asked
"i didn't get a good look J. i wanna know her story. it definitely ended terribly for her. i could feel it." i say as my phone rings causing me to jump. i take it out of my pocket and see my mum is calling me. i answer, "hello ?"
"hello dear. how are things at home ?" she asks
"everything's good. i'm just exploring an old building with Charles, Jasper, and Flora." 
"ah. nice. well be careful, tell everyone i say hello"
"mum says hello" i say to everyone.
"hi Mrs. Redmare" everyone says.
  "well okay darling. be safe i love you. we'll see you monday morning"
  "okay mum, see you then. i love you too bye." i say and then hang up.
  we all continue walking and then we hear a female scream bloody murder in one of the rooms we past.
