Not Meant To Be?

 Kate smiled when she saw Jeric walking closer to her now. She go to school early today because she wants to meet him outside the school gate. She wants them to walk to their classroom together. 

"Good morning, Jeric." Kate greeted him who looks surprised seeing her. "Let's go to our class together, okay?" 

He just nodded his head. She widen her smile, then hold his right hand. She didn't notice how he sighed and looked uncomfortable walking hand in hand with her right now. 

"Where do you want to go, Jeric?" She asked him. They are now exiting the school ground after their classes. "Do you want to eat some snacks?"

 "I-I have important things to do today, Kate. I-I'm sorry." Jeric said with a guilty look on his face. 

She felt disappointed but just smiled. "It's okay. Let's just have a date this weekend, okay?" He shook his head making her frown. "Are you busy on weekend?" 

He took a deep sigh, then looked straight in her eyes. "Let's talk outside the school, Kate. I-I need to tell you something important."

 "I'm so sorry, Kate. I don't want to hurt you but... I can't stop my heart. I can't stop my heart who only wants Candace." Jeric said. He felt so guilty for breaking Kate's heart. 

She smiled bitterly, then looked at him who's sitting on a bench next to her inside a public park. "Can you... say it to me again, Jeric? Those words you said a while ago. Say it to me while looking straight into my eyes. Please?" 

He can't understand why she requested that, but he still obeyed. He looked straight in her eyes then say those words again. "Let's break up, Kate." 

Tears finally rolled down from Kate's eyes. Not just because Jeric broke up with her, but also because, he can say those words easily while looking straight into her eyes. She remembered the night she rejected Carlos' love for her. She can't even look at him because she doesn't want to see him hurting and crying because of her. 

But Jeric...

 Jeric is so different from her. He can broke her heart while looking straight into her eyes. She realized how stupid she is for thinking that Jeric is honestly in love with her all this time.

"Did you have fun with me, Carlos?" Jade asked him who just responded her with a weak smile. She felt hurt but just smiled. "Let's go the next ride. Let's enjoy our ride-all-you-can ticket, boring." 

She hold his right hand, then dragged him to the roller coaster. He just smiled and just let himself enjoyed Jade's company even though 'his princess' never left his mind especially his heart. 

Jade is aware that he is with her physically only. She's aware that his heart and mind will always belong to his 'princess'. 

"Thanks for hanging out with me, Jade. You're really a good friend of mine." He said, oblivious how her sweet words broke her heart. 

"Everything for you, Carlos. You know that all I want to do is to watch your smile, right?" She said, smiling at him. 

They sat down in a bench inside the amusement park. He looked up in the sky while she is just watching his beautiful side profile with a content smile on her face.

 "Are you still hoping that one day, your princess will finally fall in love with you, Carlos?" She asked all of a sudden making him looked back at her with a painful look in his eyes. 

"Is it wrong to keep on waiting for her? Is it wrong if I'm still foolishly hoping that a miracle will happen, and my best friend will finally love me back?" He asked with obvious pain in his tone. "I'm such a fool, Jade. My heart is so foolish, right?"

 "I think true love will really make us foolish. When you're in love with someone, you keep on ignoring their mistakes and flaws. Your strong love for them made you invisible enough to all the pains they would cause you." Jade said with a bitter smile on her face.

 "Why are you talking like a love expert, Jade? It doesn't suit you." He said, then chuckled. "Maybe, that's the reason why fate made our paths crossed. Maybe... we're both foolish people when it comes to love, Jade."

 "What if... fate made our paths crossed because... we're meant to be, Carlos?" She asked making him surprised. She gave a nervous chuckle. "I- I love you, Carlos."

 He widen his eyes in shock. He never noticed that she has a secret love for him. 

"It's okay. I know you are still in love with your best friend. And I know, that I can never replace her inside your heart, right?" She asked with a bitter smile on her face. He can't help but feel guilty for her. "Don't feel sorry for me, Carlos. All I want is for you to be happy and I know that... Kate is your own happiness. But if she rejected your love once again, you can always run back to me. I will always be here for you, Carlos." She added making him hugged her tight.

He felt so bad for hurting a nice girl like her. "What are you waiting for, Carlos? Go back to your princess. It's time to finally fight your love for her."

 He looked at her, confused. "Are you sure? What about you, Jade?" 

She smiled. "I'm fine. I will be happy if you will be happy too, Carlos. Now, confess to your bestfriend once again. If she rejected you for the second time, try over and over again. But don't hurt yourself too much. Always remember that I will always be here to catch you when you fall, Carlos."

 He can't stop crying because of her touching words.

 Maybe, if his heart is not foolishly in love with Kate, he will never hesitate to let Jade take care of his heart. But too bad, Jade came into his life at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
