Jesus take the wheel take it from my hands was the singing from my alarm. I stretched my hands from under the covers and turned the device off. I then immediately shoved the covers off and ran to my calendar. I placed both my hands on the walls it hung on, it was September 5th 2012 the first day of high school. God I was thrilled. I ran into the shower hastily not even bothering to check if the water heater was on. "God!" I screamed as the cold water hit my skin, I scrubbed myself thoroughly as fast as I could. I rinsed myself off and pulled the towel from off the hanger and wrapped it around myself in a traditional African wrap and walked into the room. I opened my closet door to find my uniform. It was a plaid lavender pleated skirt and white shirt, the legendary St. Heather Academy for girls uniform. I took out my uniform from the closet and laid it on the bed just imagining myself in it,I could no longer contain my excitement along with a glorious smile dancing on my lips also came a shriek.
After I styled my slightly kinky hair As best As I could and put on my uniform I ran downstairs with my back pack draped over my shoulder, just As I entered the sitting room was the horn of my own chartered taxi. I couldn't even be bothered to actually tell my parents bye personally so I just yelled on my way through the door" I'm leaving ,mom, dad" and pulled the door closed.
It was only a 20 minutes drive to school but some how it felt like more. When the taxi finally pulled up into the school yard I was dumbfounded for a few seconds I just couldn't find the right words or the best way to express my elation, there was no other way. The buildings were old about 19th century built with stone Walls and red dirt. The buildings were situated at the top of a hill over looking the town of Brown's. Each girl was impeccably uniformed Nothing less than the ladies they were being trained to be. I Honestly had no idea where I should go so I thought it best to just stand along the sides of the path As the girls ran and jumped and screamed at being reunited with their friends after two months of summer vacation.
At that moment I saw lines being formed so I just followed suit with these lines we were lead into the auditorium, where they gathered for Monday morning devotions I assumed. As I took my seat I was enthralled by the angelic singing that took me to one place but heaven, quite so it was heavenly, even if it was just for a moment.
