I walked down the path making sure I didn't slip over on the ice that covered it. Something cold landed on my nose and melted quickly and I looked up to see the first few snowflakes falling. I couldn't contain the small smile that broke out on my face; I had a soft spot for snow. The first snow of the winter was starting to fall.
Ahead of me a light frosting of snow was beginning to settle on the hard ground and snow fell thicker and thicker. I hurried on carefully and was soon facing the familiar house I was visiting. The lights on the small hedges that lined the path up to the front door sparkled through the layer of snow that was covering it, soon they would be invisible.
I almost skipped up the path with excitement, my small bag bumped against my hip as I did. I run the bell and heard it echo throughout the house. Behind the door I heard the sound of shuffling footsteps that became gradually louder until the door opened before me.
"Harry!" I squealed jumping forward into the house and enveloping my boyfriend in a hug. I could feel him chuckle deeply as he hugged me back.
"Hi Lily." He replied once I'd released him. He invited me inside and we made our way to the lounge where I collapsed onto my favourite spot on the couch. I kicked off my boots as harry sat down beside me and put my legs up on his. "Making yourself at home already?" he laughed and picked up the TV remote.
"Can we watch a film?" I asked. When he nodded I stood up and walked over to the large cabinet I knew was home to Harry's family's massive collection of films. I automatically began searching for something Christmassy to watch and I noticed the perfect film that was partially hidden from view by a large stack of other films. I pulled it out of the cabinet and made my way over to the large TV.
Harry's family were well-known for loving movies, his dad was a director and his mom was a screenplay writer, and it was a trait than ran in his family.
I put the DVD in the DVD player, turned off the lights and went over to close the curtains. The snow had already blanketed most of the view out of the window, only a few things could be seen under the white layer that had fallen.
I sat back down and pressed the play button on the remote. Harry laid a cover over the two of us and I snuggled closer to him as the beginning of The Snowman started.
"I can't believe you picked this. I haven't seen it since I was ten." Harry smiled and I shushed him quickly. The Snowman was a classic and I loved it, I didn't want to miss any of it. I hummed along quietly to the music and Harry put up with me patiently.

The final credits began to roll and I sighed happily, this was pure bliss. The phone rang and interrupted my thoughts as Harry stood up to answer it.
"Hello?" he said into the receiver. "Ok... No, it's just me and Lily...Yeah...Ok that's fine...Sure, see you then...Bye." He said cheerily before hanging up. I only caught his side of the conversation, which didn't make much sense to me.
"Who was it?" I asked, stretching out on the couch.
"It was my dad. He and mom are stuck in Orlando because the planes can't fly in the snow and Clemmie is stuck at work because her car won't start." He sighed. I stood up and went over to him pulling him into a deep hug.
"Don't worry; they'll get back for Christmas." I said. He leaned his head on top of mine.
"I hope so." He replied. I pulled away and looked up into his grey eyes.
"Smile!" I told him and pulled at his cheeks playfully. Harry grinned his signature smile that seemed to illuminate the whole room better than the lights on the Christmas tree and pulled me into the kitchen.
