chapter ten - questions
Erin's POV
"I just don't understand," Puck groans in frustration, looking over at me from the driver's seat.
The two of us sat in Noah's car before school, just like we did everyday, but this time the conversation was growing increasingly more heated.
"I told you it was going to take time, Noah," I sigh.
"Are you embarrassed of me?" He frowns.
"I'm not embarrassed of you," I scoff.
"We're already hooking up and hanging out all the time. You've told me you have feelings for me. I can't think of a single fucking reason why you don't want to be my girlfriend yet."
"I've told you. I need to really trust-"
"You need to trust me. I know," he interrupts. "Erin, I don't have time to even notice anyone else. If I'm not in class or at football practice, I'm either with you or thinking about how much I want to be with you. All I fucking want is for you to just be mine. I don't know why that's so hard for you to believe-"
"Because I've seen this before, Noah," I interrupt him. "You love the chase! I'm so fucking scared that the second you finally get comfortable, you'll lose interest. I've seen you do it a million times with a million different girls."
"You're different-" he starts.
"I want to believe that so badly," I sigh, pushing away the tears filling up in my eyes. "But the truth is, you don't know how quickly things could change for you. You don't know how you're going to feel once I'm not just a fun prize you need to try and win. I'm sorry that I've been asking for so much time, Noah, I genuinely feel so shitty for that, but I'm just trying to enjoy this while it lasts."
"Erin," he sighs, reaching his hand up to wipe my tear stained cheek. I push his hand away before grabbing my backpack and storming out of his car. "Erin!" I hear him call after me. I ignore him and continue walking towards the school, quickly wiping away my tears with my sleeve.

"Alright, guys, this week's assignment," Mr. Schue grins at us, walking over to the white board to write down a single word: "Questions." Brittany raises her hand.
"Yeah, I have one. What's this week's assignment?" She asks, making Mr. Schue laugh.
"No, Brittany, the assignment this week is 'questions'," he smiles. "I want you each to pick a song with a question in the title and perform it for the rest of the Glee Club." The bell rings, and I quickly grab my bag and walk to my locker, hearing footsteps close behind me.
"Erin," I hear Noah sigh from behind me. "I can't fucking take this silent treatment. You haven't even looked at me all day." I close my locker and turn to face him.
"I just need some space," I sigh, watching as his lips form into a frown before I quickly walk past him to my next class.
---
I smile and clap along with the rest of the Glee Club as Finn finishes up his rendition of "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?"
