It was a warm morning, Cara got up and realized that it was the last day of school. That only meant one thing, she will not see her friends for the rest of her life. Nor the CN Tower or Niagara Falls again too.
"Cara, honey time to get up!" Called my mom again."Okaaay" I say drowsily, it felt like it was taking so much effort just to get up.
All that was left in my room was my bed and nothing else, basically. The clothes I got out the previous day was on the floor in a pile.
When I was finally downstairs eating my Cheerios, mom realized that dad was still in bed, "oh oh" I say as mom marches up the stairs and yells at dad. The only thing that was heard from up there was moan, that of which came from dad. When mom comes down, her face flaming red, I decide to take my lunch and walk to school. Before I got out mom said that I was an hour early, and that my book had been forgotten, mom is sincere that I have to bring my book to school. The truth is that I don't actually read, it just sits in my backpack, I literally hate reading.
Mom was stern that I bring my book unless I'm practically grounded. "Cara... I'll take you to school" she says and starts walking to the door. "No! I want to see the beauty of the walk to school one more time." "Ok, suit yourself" she replies.
Every time I see something I stop for like, five minutes at each garden. Mom says to take this move seriously. Then I heard a noise, "crap, the bell" I start running as fast as I could. Once I arrive at school, I burst thru the hallway bumping everybody out of the way in order to get to my class early.
"Hi Cara!" Shouted Kate, Lindy and Jessie. "We'll miss you next year" they all shouted and started hugging and squeezing me. I had no idea what else to do but, I squeezed them back. The second bell rang. Yay, I think sarcastically. The day literally flew by, all of a sudden it was 1:30pm and we were walking to the gym. They assign us our seats in the gym. Then I remembered something, they will announce that I am leaving the school, no. I kind of started daydreaming. All of a sudden I heard,
"Please say good bye to Cara in grade 5 who will be leaving us next year so her father can continue his job. So Cara could you please stand up." Everybody looked at me like I was a crazy-lady for this though. My friends gave me sentimental glances the odd time.
Leaving us 45 minutes to pack up our stuff, but I just stood there waiting for them to finish, because Mr. Dwindle told me to pack up my desk a few days later.
Mr. Dwindle heard footsteps like always he rushes to see who it is, it is always another teacher or the principal. Not this time. It was my mom. "Cara, read please, if you have nothing else please." She says, I grunted and dug the book out of my backpack, crap it is about princesses, I should pay more attention to which take to school.
I started reading, Valerie came over for input about my book, "crappy" I say. She of course says, "give it a chance, it could be an amazing book" she says. "See for yourself, Valerie, princesses, so sucky, my mom makes me read, wanna trade" I ask "umm, no I am quite fine with the Hunger Games, thank you very much" she says with a disgusted face.
"Cara, time to go." Mom says before I left I made sure I could contact my friends from British Columbia. As my mom and I exit the school for the last time. I look up at it a last time and think, is there possibly a better school than this? No I reply to myself. Before I know it we are getting in the car to go home now. At that moment the kids in my class rush outside after me and my best friend, Hannah ran after my car and a whistle blew right after her. She waves and me and runs back to her friends and Mr. Dwindle.
"Mom, can we go back to Toronto to see Hannah and my other friends please?" I demand "if you do well at your new school, then yes" harrumph I think. I can't go that long without seeing them. Why?
