So uh, I'm assuming I don't have to explain what this "chapter" is about because I did this in Anti (and all my other finished books) and I'm 99% sure all of you have read Anti unless you're one of the stupid people that read books in a series out of order (which by the way, why would anyone do that, that's literally so dumb). So I guess have fun lmao.

Reflection

This was the first sequel I've ever written actually, and the experience is a bit different (and harder) than you might think, especially at the beginning. Writing characters that already have established character development and/or context is easier than normal because it doesn't require much explaining, but at the beginning of the book, especially since it doesn't pick up immediately after Anti, it's a bit harder because I have to provide background context instead of general context. (I hope that made sense lol) Also, because the characters are already familiar to the reader and they don't need introducing, it put me in an awkward position because I didn't want to start the plot build-up immediately because I didn't want it to feel too rushed, but I had to do that anyways since there was literally no other way to delay it.

In one of the chapters, I did mention in my A/N that I screwed up this book, but I'll explain what exactly I did in a later section.

Overall, I believe that out of all of the books that I've written, this was the worst one. As I mentioned above, writing a sequel is difficult in terms of pacing, and I think the pacing in this was really bad. Also, the fact that I screwed up, it just turned this into a whole mess. From an author's perspective, this book is really bad, but from a casual readers perspective, it's fine.

Pretty much all of the superhero and supervillain tropes are the same as Anti, so this might be short as I won't be repeating things cause that's redundant.

Writing Process

Writing this took way longer than I expected, probably since I took a week-long hiatus + I spent a lot of time writing other books.

I hope I managed to carry over the casual, humorous writing style that I tried in Anti over to here, please tell me if you think it's consistent between the two books. thanks lol

Motifs

The main motif in this book is kind of like the one is Anti, but it's a bit different. (And it's also literally the title of the book)

It's something that some people have: A Facade.

The Google definition for Facade is: "an outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality"

This is something that is displayed by many characters, which I'll explain one by one here.

Chris is probably one of the most prominent examples in this book as literally almost all of his character relationships are built off of his. Everyone (except for Slick and Tekit) knew Chris as someone he really wasn't. If you remember in my Anti outro chapter, I explained that Chris had a sense of triality (Chris, Chan, and Crash). This kind of adds on to that. One side, the side that most people see, isn't real.

Now, the superheroes very obviously have displayed aspects of a facade. From the end of Anti to all throughout Facade, Minho put on a visible front in which he told everyone that he was okay when he really wasn't. Minho's facade was a bit flawed as his real feelings were able to seep through.

Seungmin showed an instance of having a facade in the chapter directly after his identity got revealed. Around his friends, Seungmin acted like he was okay, when really he wasn't at all.

There are many other instances of characters having facades, but I'll let you all analyze them on your own. :)

How I screwed up lmao

So uh, I think a lot of you are probably wondering what I mean when I said I screwed up. Many of you probably think the book was fine, but if you know what I'm talking about, then you'll probably start to see what I mean. This screw up definitely made the quality of the book deteriorate by a lot. It was really yikes.

So what exactly did I do so wrong?

Any guesses before I explain?

Alright so basically, it's an issue with pacing and development. I made Chris' realization about Minho's hero career and desire to stop him start so early that it took nearly twenty chapters to resolve. It made the book seem excruciatingly long, even though it's shorter than Anti.

But it's not only that, doing so caused pretty much a chain reaction. Many of Chris' motivations and dialogue seem redundant and/or repetitive, which made it harder to write without making it seem like the scene was the same, different context. (Does that even make any sense?) A better way I could've written this was a slower build up in realization, doing that would remove the pacing issue and twenty chapters to resolve it would seem more reasonable.

I might consider rewriting the whole thing, but I'm probably just going to leave it up since it's still part of my writing improvement.

Thank You

I just want to once again, thank all of my readers. The amount of reads I've been receiving on not only this book, but all of my books is so much more than I ever would've imagined when I first started this account. Thank you all for your comments too, I love reading them :)

I hope you all enjoyed Facade, it really was quite a journey, and this universe is one of my most favorite ones that I've ever made. If you don't mind, I'm curious as to what you all like and don't like about the series so far, leave a comment!

Third Book?

If you guessed that there will be a third book, you're correct! I've actually been planning for this to be a Trilogy since the beginning so like I'm not planning this on the spot (unlike some people)

The third book will be coming soon, but I'm not going to be starting it for another couple of weeks. I might just post the intro chapter so you all could add it to your libraries, but an easier way is to just follow me and you'll find out when I'll start it in my announcements ;)

I hope you all have a good day, and hopefully I'll see you all again in the third book, Abscond and maybe my other books! :)
