Hiraeth - Itachi Uchiha

Chapter One (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Blood. Every corner I turned showed the same gruesome scene. The people who once showed me nothing but love and kindness were now lying face down in the streets, a single tear slid down my cheek at the thought of someone doing this to the clan I loved and cherished. Then suddenly I was falling into a dark abyss with those eyes, those red eyes staring back into my soul.

"HIMARI WAKE UP" I jolted upright in my bed to find sasuke shaking my shoulders looking frantic. " you scared me himari, I thought you were getting murdered or something" I smiled gently at the boy trying to calm him down. " its okay sasuke, it was just a nightmare, go back to bed you have your graduation exam from the academy tomorrow" he nodded his head and slowly made his way toward the door, " your nightmares seem to be getting worse himari, maybe you need to talk to someone, i'm worried" he spoke softly. "I'll be fine sasuke, there's no need to worry, now get to bed" I told him.

' they never go away, he finds a way to haunt me after all this time, those red emotionless eyes. It's like i can feel him watching me' i thought to myself as I fell into a deep sleep.

------ The Next Day ------

I sat on a kitchen stool in the small two bedroom apartment sasuke and I lived in. It wasn't much but it was home I guess. " I should start breakfast before Mr Grumpy wakes up and starts demanding food " I quietly giggled to myself", Sasuke had never been a morning person.

Just as I finished plating breakfast a black crow flew into the kitchen window. I ran over hoping that the bird was okay and that it didn't get hurt, but I found a rather disturbing scene. I was sitting outside the window just staring at me. The event reminded me of something or rather someone I'd been trying so hard to forget.

" Hey Himari snap out of it " sasuke called, he was already at the table starting his breakfast. " Where are your manners, I didn't raise you to start eating when everyone is not seated at the table" I scolded him. I made my way over to the table and started eating my breakfast.

---- After Breakfast ----

" Be careful and do your best kid " I told Sasuke as he made his way towards the door to leave for the academy. " yeah yeah, I always am" he retorted. " Do I not get an I love you himari, thanks for everything you do for me before you leave anymore sasuke?" I shouted at him as he left.

The door opened suddenly and in ran sasuke, "what.. What are you doing I thought you left ''I stuttered as I was surprised that he had rushed back inside. " Just shut up," he replied. He marched over to me and placed two fingers on my forehead, poking me slightly. He then ran back out the door not saying another word.

I looked down at the dishes I was washing up and smiled knowing Sasuke had never been the type of kid to show much affection especially after the accident. This was one of the few moments where he had shown his emotions, and I would treasure it. 

I quickly finished cleaning up and made my way to my room to get ready. I had many things to do today, but the most important would be going to see the third Hokage and trying to pick up some more difficult and higher paying missions. Once I left our apartment I could feel someone watching me, the incident with the crow from earlier still had me spooked, so I brushed it off as my nerves play tricks on me. 

Little did I know that those pair of eyes that haunted my dreams every night were watching over. me from the shadows.
