A loud whinny made Keya sit straight up. She looked around and took a moment to remember where she was. She looked around and saw she was in her cabin, and Loki asleep in the bed. The moment she saw Loki, she remembered everything from yesterday.
A hoof kicking the door made Keya realize who it was. Vilkaf. She stood up and opened the door to see the dun Arabian staring at her.
"What are you doing here?" He shook his mane and turned to show her a pile of clothing draped across his back with a parchment sticking out of it. Keya pulled it off and heaved the heavy clothing and tossed it on Loki, startling him. She pulled out the parchment and read it out loud.
"Loki and Keya,
I couldn't make it this morning, but I sent Keya's horse back with fresh clothing for my son. In the satchel, there are healing stones. Crush them and apply them to any wound or bruise and wrap them with damp bandages for half a day and they will be healed.
Keya, I couldn't thank you any more for finding my son. As a mother, there is nothing I can physically give you for the deed you have done. But if you can take care of him, I will be even more grateful and I will reward you with any request you make.
Thank you, Queen Frigga."
Keya folded the parchment and put it on the table and grabbed the satchel. She opened it and looked inside. Fifteen healing stones wrapped carefully in strips of cream colored cloth, just like Queen Frigga said in her note. Keya put the satchel on the table and looked at Loki sitting straight up, looking at the clothes sent by his mother.
"I'm going to be outside so you can dress."
"Wait, aren't you going to apply the healing stones?"
"Where do you need them?" Loki pointed to a gash in his side below his ribs that was starting to heal.
"Thorns can be a pain. And also...um..." He looked down at his lower section and Keya raised her hands.
"Okay, the thorn injury I will help with, but I will NOT do that!"
"My mother told you to take care of me. I can't apply healing stones to myself because I know they sting and I have issues hurting myself." Keya rolled her eyes.
"Where does it hurt...down there?"
"Everywhere."
"Oh come on! What kind of pain?"
"If feels sore."
"Then you'll have to get over it because I will NOT do it." She took a grey healing stone and crushed it between her hands and applied the metallic-looking dust and used her index and middle finger to dab it onto the gash. Loki flinched and groaned a little. Keya tried to ignore him as she finished coating the wound with the dust. She stood and took a long bandage and dampened it in a wash-bin before wrapping it around his lower torso.
"Thank you. I'm pretty hungry, though." Keya stood up and washed her hands in the wash-bin.
"I have some bread here, but I'll have to go back to get you something else."
"Bread will be fine for now." He said as Keya brought him a loaf of bread she had brought. "You know, I wasn't expecting to be able to eat as much as I had."
"Well, horses eat a lot of grass. I bet that you missed the feasts in the palace, at least."
"The only upsetting thing about being stuck as a horse, was my mother. I was worried about how upset and worried she was. I could care less about my father or that oaf of a brother."
