Increasing threats.

After introductions were made, the three girls made their way to the river. Clementine felt the taste of Link's blood still lingering on her tongue, she had to wash away the remains because it reminded her of what he was about to do and how he hurt Violet and herself. At the same time it reminded her how strong she felt and forgot everything and just attacked him.

Seeing him hurt Violet and trying to hurt her even more, it was like a switch was flipped within Clementine. So she attacked him with no weapon whatsoever and bit him. This confirmed the lengths that she would go to in order to keep the people she loved safe. It was nothing new. And Violet triggered her survival and protective instincts.

She looked to her left. At Violet. And she thought about what if she did get hurt back there? She wouldn't have been able to deal with it or bear the heartbreak of such a loss. And she was thankful and proud that she was able to protect her and have her walking by her side right now.

And then there was Jade. Clementine and Violet both didn't know yet what to make of her. She seemed like a decent girl, she had this air around her that made her seem like she could take care of herself and that she was strong. But at the same time something felt dark about her. They had no idea where she came from or anything about her other than her name.

Clementine didn't want to ask questions right away, she wanted to give the girl a chance to relax and calm down from the recent events that took place.

As they made their way to the river, Clementine kneeled with some difficulty given her condition, she brought her joined palms down into the flowing water of the river and rinsed her mouth of the blood.

She saw Violet do the same and washed away the blood that formed a line down from the corner of her lips. Jade watched them both silently, mostly watching Violet. For the first time she was fascinated by the fact that the person she was looking for all along was right there in front of her, kneeling in front of the river with the shack that she had watched her in all this time just a few meters away.

And her name was Violet, Jade smiled at that thought. 'What a beautiful name, she certainly doesn't look like a Violet but it suits her.' she said to herself.

Before Clementine or Violet would notice her stare, she composed herself and crossed her arms and looked away at the trees, pretending she was in deep thoughts.

Clementine decided that this was a good place to talk to Jade, she didn't know if she should bring her back to the school with them, so she needed to talk to Violet about it first. But she felt she should take her back with them because the outside wasn't safe. The walkers weren't the only threat anymore.

"Hey Vi, can we talk for a minute?" Clementine asked her while standing up.

Violet just nodded and followed her a few feet out of Jade's earshot.

"What's up?" Violet asked her gently.

"What do you think we should do with her?" She said and looked at Jade who was still pretending she had more important stuff to think about.

"Honestly I don't know Clem, how can we trust her?" Violet asked with a sigh.

"She was being attacked by this man, what if he was the one that killed James?" Clementine frowned at the thought and her heart clenched at the horrible memory.

"We don't know that, and we can't trust anyone. Clem." Violet said and placed her hand on Clementine's arm after she noticed the sad look that overtook her face.

"I know Vi, but we can't just leave her outside for that monster to find." Clementine crossed her arms.

"Clem, you always looked out for us, and you know she's still a complete stranger. Why would you want to take her in? Knowing that James was killed out there and it could have been anyone?" Violet felt confused about this. It wasn't like Clementine to trust strangers and welcome them, she had faced enough horrors to know not to trust just anyone.
