"why are you acting like this? we were never even dating"
shocked silence.the only thing that could be felt in the room was bitterness and hurt, and Juniper could have sworn that he heard Gray's heart shattering.
regret suddenly washed over Juniper's features, realization hitting him right in the gut.
Gray was left standing there,in pure disbelief, glassy eyes wide filled with a trembling water, ready to spill at any moment.
"...you're right. we never were."
and with that,they left.
Juniper could hear the quiet sob escape Gray's lips as they closed the door behind them,a pang of guilt sitting not so comfortably in his chest.
truth be told, they never were official, but the countless nights spent together half naked under silk covers, whispering sweet nothings to each other and giggling like middle schoolers, spoke volumes about how they felt towards one another.
they were both content with the relationship they had though, all because Juniper couldn't get romantically involved with someone for the life of him.
and Gray accepted that, saying that as long as Juniper's happy,so are they.
and Juniper realized then, just how big of a mistake he made.
nothing but the aftertaste of heartbreak lingered in the room, which made Juniper sick to the stomach.
with a hand over his mouth,he ran down the hallway into the bathroom, where he immediately haunched over the toilet and spat out last night's dinner.
he sat there for what felt like hours, which was actually just 20 minutes, before the doorbell rang.
Juniper begrudgingly pushed himself up and and towards his door, opening it to see none other than Gray.
Puffy eyed and with rosy cheeks,Gray stood there, hands preoccupied by a string on their sleeve.
Juniper stared at them, mouth agape and eyes red from sleep deprivation.
Gray fidgeted under his gaze, sniffling every now and then, before breaking the silence
"i'm sorry." was all that they said.
Juniper blinked,bemused.
"what?"
"i said i'm sorry."
he must have heard that wrong...there's no way Gray of all people was apologizing right now,for something only Juniper is to be blamed.
altough,Juniper knew Gray had the stupid habit of taking the blame for everything, just for the sake of their relationship.
"Gray, what?how are you sorry?you know what- get in."
