I looked up from my book, Life Is No Fairytale. Even the thought of this book made me smile. I've read it so many times, and it will always remain my favorite book. The plot is so captivating, and the characters are so true to life.

Okay, enough of my book. I'm Peyton, Peyton Thomas. Basically, I don't talk. Let get things straight - I'm not a mute. Ever since grade 2, when I stopped talking on a regular basis, people have been asking why I don't talk, resulting with no answer and me being stuck with the name 'Mute Girl.' If only people understood why I didn't talk...only my best friend, Alley does. Not even my parents, they can only understand my spoiled 6 year old sister.

That's basically as exciting as my life gets.

So here I am, sitting in the local park in my town, a little place in Colorado. My dog was running through the grass, and since it was spring, so the weather was lovely. The time is 3:56, I've been at the park, relaxing ever since school got out.

I'm sorry if I'm boring you, I tend to be a boring person. Alley was laughing and swinging on the swings, acting like a kid, not like the 15 year old she was. I smiled again, life sometimes seemed so amazing.

You may think for an apparent mute, I'd have it hard, but I certainly don't. The only problem is the local bullies, a group of girls from our school. I am pretty defenseless and am never able to fight back, but that's what Alley's for. She's pretty much the best friend you could imagine. There's one thing I wish I had that I don't; a boyfriend. There's this boy... Johnny Mason. People just call him Mason, but I personally prefer Johnny, it's very old fashioned. The only problem is the fact that he's the most popular boy at Glenview, our high school. Even if I talked, I wouldn't have the courage to talk to him. Besides, he has a girlfriend, Maya Crimson, the most popular girl in school. She was downright gorgeous, and I must admit they are perfect for each other.

Alley was trying to call me over to the swings when she got interrupted by a familiar laugh, coming from a few yards away. Hm, that laugh sounded familiar.

"Shit." I muttered. You see, I never said I was COMPLETELY mute, I still only talk to Alley, occasionally my parents, and of course myself. I pieced together the pieces, and figured that the laugh came from Johnny Mason. It was him and his friends, coming to play football in the field. Since I don't talk, I am an observer, I notice pretty much every little detail and flaw about a person.

Like Alley, for example. She appeared to be about 5'3, but was really 5'5. Her hair was a color somewhere in between red, brown, auburn, and gold. But might I say, it is possibly the prettiest hair color, unlike mine, plain brown. My only great feature was my piercing blue eyes. I've been complimented on them for about as long as I have been called mute girl.

Alley jumped off of her swing and bolted over to me.

"Hey look, it's Mason!"

I rolled my eyes at her. "Johnny."

"Whatever. Why do you even refer to him as Johnny? It's so old fashioned." Before I had time to respond, she let out a squeal. "He brought Devon and Evan! Omigod, I like love Devon, he's sooo hot!" Alley kept going on and on about how 'hot' Devon was. Of course, he looked no different than his twin, Evan. But Alley could tell them apart from a mile away. She was kind of a stalker....

"Oh, he's wearing his blue shirt...I like his purple one better. It suits him." Lucky for her, I wouldn't tell her to shut up, so she could go on and on about how she wants her wedding to go. I suddenly had a keen interest in my book, so I pulled it out of my bag, and flipped to page 264, the page I was on. I don't need bookmarks, I'm also some kind of freaky genius with an insane memory. I could probably tell you what I ate on December 17th last year.

So, basically life is good. Everyone has their own ups and downs, but right now, I'm going to live my crazy, beautiful life.
