Maybe Making a Movie Isn't So Bad

It's been three years since I met Ashton, and we've been hanging out a lot. He's really cool and nice. What can I say?

College has also been going smoothly. It's been really enjoyable, especially with Aspen, Dani, Nick, Markus, and Matt in some of my classes. They make it a lot better, and my professors are all really cool. I've made friends with one of them, he actually reminds me a lot of Brent, so this guy was naturally my favorite professor.

So, today I walked into Professor Delko's class and immediately noticed something different. He was my first class of the day, it started in the late afternoon, but there was never any other professors in the class. Today, all of my professors were in the room, plus some I didn't recognize. I walked in and sat between Dani and Markus, like I always do. "Guys, what's going on?" I whispered to my friends.

Nick looked over Dani and made a face. "I've heard were getting our final assignments today."

"What? No way!" I smiled. "But, why would the other professors be in here?"

"I don't know, but I guess we'll find out!" He wiggled his eyebrows.

"Oh, shut up!"

We sat and talked for about ten minutes while we waited for class to start. As we were waiting, I didn't realize that the room was slowly filling up with people from different classes coming into our room. They're probably people who have the other professors for their first class. When class finally started, Delko stepped to the podium in the front of the class and cleared his throat. A silence fell over the people in the room, we had a certain respect for him.

"Good morning, everyone, I hope you're doing well!" Delko smiled around the room at us, greeting us like he did every morning. I'm really glad his class is one that I've been in all four years.

Everyone in the class muttered their "I'm doing good, how are you?"'s and "I'm just tired"'s.

"Good, well, I'm sure you've seen the other professors gathered in this room today. You guys are getting your final assignments today."

A cheer rose from us, we've been super excited for this project. We heard that we have to actually make a movie.

"Settle down, settle down." Delko laughed a little. "Okay, the reason why the rest of the professors are in here is because this project spans to all of your classes."

Hushed whispering spread like wildfire through the crowd. None of us could believe what we were hearing. This project could either be the best thing that's happened to us, or it could be our deaths.

"Okay, now your assignment is to make a movie about an experience that has happened to you. This could be at any point in your life. It doesn't matter how interesting the event was, we're not grading on the quality of the story you're portraying. Okay, we kind of are, but you know what I mean. Anyway, we're looking to see how well you guys can cast for characters and the quality of the filming techniques you use."

A hushed whisper spread through the students and I felt myself slowly starting to smile more and more as I thought about this movie. I was excited this could be a really fun thing to do.

"Okay, I have some final instructions before we dismiss you to plan and start writing your scripts." Delko continued. "So, this is going to count as your final in all of your classes, so please try to do this like its a real film project that people are going to see. Next, we won't be holding classes until your movies are due. And that leads me to the due date, these will need to be in your first class' professor's hands in a month."

I was getting more and more excited about this. I turned to Dani, who looked at me and grabbed my arm and squealed as quietly as she could.

"Okay, I think I'm done talking now, so, you're dismissed." Delko announced before he stepped away from the podium and half of the crowd turned to leave the huge auditorium.
