Hey everyone! This is my first ever fanfic, and I hope you like it! Any feedback or comments are welcome. :) This chapter is basically just a setup for what's to come.
Chapter One
You're insecure, don't know what for. You're turning heads when you walk through the do-or-or... Ugh, did everyone really have to play that song every minute of the day? I could so clearly hear the hit single blasting from the iPods of several different girls as they danced their way down the hall. I looked after them, a slight frown pulling the corners of my lips down.
Most people think I'm completely insane for not being very fond of the British boy band that is famously known as One Direction. And maybe I am insane, and I don't have anything against them, but I simply did not see what everyone else saw in them. Sure, they were talented and were pretty good looking, but I saw no reason to drool over them like the way so many girls in my school did. I mean, come on! They practically worshipped five guys they have never even spoke one word to in their whole lives! I could never even go one day without hearing some random person scream in my ear, a victim of a fangirl attack. Sighing from the thought, I quickly opened up my locker, about to reach in and take out the necessary books I needed for the day, but was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Kelly! Kelly! Hey!" I turn my head around slightly, smiling at my best friend as she approached me, a bounce in her every step as she skipped over, a grin stretched widely across her face. "Kel!" She repeated in an obviously excited sing-song voice, using the nickname she gave me years ago.
"What's up, Leah?" I asked questioningly, my head tilted to the side while I inspected her unusually cheerful manner. Leah was always bubbly, but in all the time I've known her, I've never seen her so hyper... But I realized that I probably won't be seeing her at all soon. After all, it was the last week of school. After this week and the two months of summer vacation, Leah and I will be heading our separate ways, going to university, living on our own... The thought of not being able to see her and hear her always happy laugh again caused a tight knot in my chest.
"Well, what are you doing tonight, Kel?" Leah demanded, the grin still plastered on her face as she carefully brushed a few strands of stray hair out of her big round eyes. Leah was... Well, gorgeous. There was no other word for it. With her straight, silky blonde hair that hung down to her waist, a few streaks of light brown highlighting it, brilliant blue eyes, and slender, tall, elegant body, she was every guy's dream, just undeniably beautiful. I've always wondered why she even bothered to hang around with me when she could spend her time with people so much better than I was. While Leah was perfect, popular, and irresistable, I was plain and a complete klutz. I had normal, dark wavy brown hair that rippled down to my mid-back and dull green eyes. I really couldn't be compared with her.
"Uh, nothing much... I think I'm just staying home tonight. Why?"
Leah beamed at me, bouncing on her feet now. "No way are you staying home. You know why? You know why?!" Her musical voice rose up higher, hardly masking her ecstacy.
"Leah, come on. Just spit it out." I told her, and I knew that no matter what, she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for very long anyways.
After tapping her long fingers against the surface of the lockers, making a drumroll noise, she whipped out two rectangular shaped papers from her leather purse that was swung over one shoulder. In the next moment, she was fanning them in front of my face. "Do you know what these are? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE?"
I laughed quietly at her actions. "It's sorta hard to tell, y'know." I grinned, gesturing to her hand that she was still using to wave the odd papers.
