-CLAY POV-

I desperately wanted it to go back to the way things were.

I wish she hadn't gone to that fucking party, I wish I had responded to her call, I wish Nick and George didn't tell Wilbur about what happened.

We would have both been on a discord call with each other right now, playing Bed Wars while talking about random shit and laughing our heads off.

But we weren't.

I texted George and Nick to join a Group call.

I waited a bit before they joined.
George first, then Nick.

They both stayed silent.

I took a deep breath before starting to talk.

"Um, so first of all I'm at Ava's house right now because she wanted me to stay, but more importantly, I don't think she's doing well obviously. You guys saw what happened on campus yesterday, and I told you about the other time she was going through something, but I think it's way more serious than that-"

I continued.

"I don't know if you saw, but yesterday when she was at school, I noticed some cuts on her arm that looked like self harm-"

George spoke up. "I saw that."

"Me too," Nick chimed in.

I nodded slightly, though I knew George and Nick couldn't see me.

"Yeah, and she definitely struggled with some uh- some self harm issues like you saw earlier." I said. "But she promised she wouldn't anymore."

"Fuck. So she told you that she won't anymore?" George asked.

"Yeah, just please don't tell her I told you. She doesn't want anyone knowing, not even me."

Saying that last part hurt me.

No, knowing that last part hurt me.

I thought of telling them about what we had both confessed to each other earlier that night, about... the holding hands thing, but I didn't. I knew it wouldn't go further than that, that she was tired and stressed. She was going through a tough time, and what she said wouldn't change anything. As much as that stung to know, I had to accept it.

"We won't tell her," Nick said, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"And be... nice, because she's obviously going through a lot right now."

"Clay. I've got it."

"Alright," I responded.

There was silence before George spoke again. "Thanks for telling us. I'll talk to her."

I sighed. "Alright, love you guys. Night."

They didn't respond, so I left.

Her apartment was quiet.

The only thing I could hear was the cars outside and the slight whir of the air conditioner.

I was worried.
