They told me time was on my side
glued, attached
but time does not stop
time does not bend
to the will of man
time is not a river
rivers can be damned
bent to our will
time is that space
over your head
thin as silk
thin as thread
time is incomprehensible
and yet we know it must exist
time is a breeze
we can't stop
time is a mountain
no matter how we howl
it will not break
time is my blanket
it wraps us
chokes us
gives us courage
and without it we are lost
over my head
swaddled
mummified
dead and
Breathing
existing at once
existing separate
Time is that hourglass
glued to my table
measured by every clock
"tick, tick"
for shame on those who wait
time is the sky
always changing
existing everywhere
encompassing our lives
do not worry
time waits for no man
but for a fools hope
and a broken soul
it slows
