Dear, Diary

Today I woke up and felt sluggish. I had an amazing dream that I became queen. Sadly that will never happen because my older brother is destined to be king. I love my brother but he can be such a pain sometimes always talking about how he is going to be a great king or even better than mother and father. It hurts to realize I mean nothing to mother and father, they still hate me for not being a boy. Mother is making sure that I won't disappoint the family, making sure I have the best education and manners. Father doesn't even look at me let alone acknowledge my existence. I keep going though proving myself to make my brother proud he says he will need my help to make sure he still has a heart when he is king. He can be a bit cocky, but he always looks after me and for that I am eternally grateful to have him.

Till Next Time Diary, Athena

"Athena", Melony yelled

"Coming mother", Athena yelled standing up from her blankets on the floor

Athena gently opened the old door and scurried to the staircase that led to her room. She ran down 3 flights of stairs and made sure she walked with pasture down the fourth just in case her mother was watching. When she got down the stairs she noticed her mother holding a black dress and a pair of black heels.

Melony, "Go change out of those rags and into this you look horrendas", she said with a nasty scold

"Yes mother", Athena took the clothes and shoes and walked up the stairs until she wasnt in her mothers sight

Athena then ran up the rest of the stairs and into her small room. She went to the corner where her barrel was. She took off the old rags and grabbed a towel she had neatly placed on a stool next to her scrub brush. She put the towel on the hook that was next to the barrel, and grabbed the brush and her bar of soap and stepped into the barrel filled with cold water. She started to scrub off all of the dirt and sorrow she felt. When she was done she stepped out and dried off with her towel, put on some of her favorite flower scented lotion and got dressed.

"Athena hurry up it shouldnt take you so long to get ready you wretched child", Melony screamed

Athena quickly kissed her stuffed panda goodbye while picking up the ends of her dress and grabbing her heels. She closed and locked her bedroom door and put the gold key around her neck making it dangly right above her breasts. She then dashed down the stairs and stopped right before she was in her mothers sight. She put on her heels while fixing her dress in her hands and tried to walk as elegantly as she possibly could down the rest of the stairs.

"Finally, your brother is already in the carriage waiting for us", Melony said while walking to the entrance of the castle

"Sorry Mother, I'll do better Mother", Athena said like she was programed

"I wish you were more like your brother just don't embarrass us and remember your manners" Melony's words laced with venom

Athena walked behind her mother all the way until she saw the big doors of the entrance. She has only walked past that staircase 5 times her entire life, only to have to go right back and be locked away again. She looks around to see the maid come up to her to give her some pearl earrings and bracelet.

Athena, "Thank you Macy", she said with a soft smile

"You're welcome princess", she said with her head still down

"Ugh disgusting you talk to this scum", Melony said with hatred

"Sorry Mother, Ill do better Mother", Athena said while putting on the pearl jewelry

When they walked outside Athena closed her eyes tightly not being used to having light since her room doesnt have a window. She opens her eyes slowly and takes a deep breath, breathing in the nice warm humid air. She looks around and sees all the green grass and pretty flowers. One flower stood out to her, it was a nice black rose. She takes in the feeling of the sun hitting her skin. She feels nice, calm, and at peace. Only for this moment to be ruined by her mother yelling again.

"Lets go before we are late", Melony screeches already in the carriage

Athena speedly walks to the carriage when someone extends their hand to her. She slightly flinched at the gesture but gladly accepted it when she realized it was a boy trying to help her. She sat down, fixed her dress, and made sure to cross her ankles and put them to the side. The door closed and the carriage took off as she remained quiet.
