Chapter 21: Sister and Spy

The alpha rogue, Jimin, cradled the baby in his arms, his heart heavy with a sense of unease.  The baby, usually a bundle of playful energy, was unusually quiet, his tiny brow furrowed in a frown.  The air in the omega lands was thick with the scent of pine and fresh earth, a constant reminder of the ongoing renovations.  Alphas, their presence a constant reminder of the new reality, bustled about, their powerful scents mingling with the familiar aroma of lavender and chamomile.

Despite this being the second time omegas and alphas had united, Jimin felt a knot of unease in his stomach.  He had been a rogue for so long, living on the fringes, that this new world felt alien to him.  The memories of the past, the pain of separation, and the lingering fear of betrayal, were ever-present.

“Mr. Park, someone is looking for you,” Taehyung's butler announced, his voice a soft whisper.

Jimin, his focus on the baby, didn't bother to look up.  “Who is it?” he asked, his voice a low rumble.

A familiar voice, soft and tinged with a hint of sadness, answered, “It's me, Oppa.”

Jimin’s heart skipped a beat.  He couldn’t be wrong.  That voice belonged to his sister, Jihwa, who he had believed to be dead for years.  He turned, his eyes widening in surprise.

“Jihwa,” he breathed, his voice filled with a mix of disbelief and relief.

Jihwa rushed towards him, her arms wrapping around him in a tight embrace.  “I missed you, Oppa.  It’s been so long since I last saw you.”  Her voice trembled, her eyes filled with tears.

“Where were you?  Why did you leave like that?  Do you know how much you worried me?”  Jimin pulled away from the hug, his voice laced with concern.

“I had to leave, Oppa.  You know what Jungkook did to me.  I had to forget about him,” Jihwa replied, her voice breaking.

“They told me what happened,” Jimin said, his voice firm.  “Jungkook didn’t do anything to you.  You were in a rut and tried to force yourself on him.  Nothing happened.  Why are you making up stories like that, Jihwa?”

“I-I’m sorry, Oppa,” Jihwa sobbed.  “I loved Jungkook so much.  I thought it would work, that I could have him.  But I was wrong.  I thought I was different from his other playthings because I’m your sister.  I thought he wouldn’t dare to hurt me.  But it was all my assumptions.  He treated me the same way as the others.”

“Still, Jihwa, you can’t make up stories like that.  You were at fault, to begin with.  You wronged Jungkook,” Jimin said, his voice filled with disappointment.

“I know, Oppa,” Jihwa said, her voice choked with emotion.  “That’s why I’m here to apologize for what I did.  I learned my faults and changed myself.  Please, help me reach him.  I can’t do it alone.  I’m embarrassed to face him.”

“Everything has changed, Jihwa,” Jimin said, his voice heavy.  “Jungkook and I are not friends anymore.  I’m a rogue now.”

“I know that, Oppa,” Jihwa said, her eyes filled with pleading.  “I heard about it.  But I’m sure you can still help me, right?”  She reached out, her fingers intertwining with Jimin’s.

Jimin sighed.  She was his sister, after all.  He couldn’t refuse her.  “Yeah, I’ll try,” he said, his voice laced with a hint of resignation.

“Thank you, Oppa.  You’re the best brother ever,” Jihwa said, hugging him tightly.

Just then, Taehyung’s voice echoed through the room.  “Hyung.”

Jimin pulled away from Jihwa, turning to see Taehyung standing in the doorway, his eyes wide with confusion.  “You’re back.  How are you?” Jimin asked, his voice a bit strained.

“Everything is fine, but who is she?” Taehyung asked, his gaze fixed on Jihwa.

“She’s Park Jihwa, my sister,” Jimin said, introducing them.

“Ah, I remember.  The one you told me died a long ago.  But she’s alive, Hyung,” Taehyung said, his voice filled with surprise.

“Yeah, it’s my mistake,” Jimin admitted, his voice laced with regret.  “I told myself she was dead so I could forget her.”

“Hi, I’m Kim Taehyung, the leader of the omega,” Taehyung said, extending his hand towards Jihwa.

“Hello,” Jihwa replied, her voice a soft whisper.

“Are you going to stay here?” Taehyung asked, his voice kind.  “I have a guest room.  You can be with your brother if that’s okay with you.”

“Sure, I love that idea,” Jihwa said, her face lighting up with a smile.  “I wanted to spend my time with Oppa, though.”

“Mr. Joo, please show her the guest room,” Taehyung said, turning to the butler.  “Please tell Mr. Joo if you have any problems with the guest room, so he can change it.”

“Okay, thank you,” Jihwa said, her voice filled with gratitude.

“Please, follow me, Ms.,” Mr. Joo said, leading Jihwa out of the room.

“She’s beautiful, Hyung,” Taehyung said, his voice laced with amusement.  “As I expected from your family’s genes.”

“Really?  I always thought she was ugly,” Jimin said, chuckling.

“By the way, Hyung, Jungkook told me that the renovation of the bridge’s barrier won’t take so long,” Taehyung said, changing the subject.  “So please, once it’s fully built, don’t always follow me.  He said I’ll be safe from now on.”

“Not gonna happen,” Jimin said, his voice firm.

“Why?” Taehyung whined, his face falling.

“Not all alphas are kind, Taehyung,” Jimin said, his voice laced with concern.  “I’m sure they won’t dare to lay a hand on you because of Jungkook.  But still, there are bastards out there.  I understand that Jungkook will punish them, but I want you to be safe, Taehyung.”

“Why do you have to be so strict?” Taehyung huffed, his voice tinged with frustration.

“I’m sorry for that, but please understand that I don’t want anything bad to happen to you,” Jimin said, his voice filled with sincerity.

“I understand, Hyung,” Taehyung said, his voice softening.

He hugged Jimin tightly, his arms wrapping around his waist.  Jimin, his heart filled with a mix of love and worry, caressed Taehyung’s back.

Meanwhile, in a dimly lit room, Dongshik sat at his desk, his face contorted with a mixture of anticipation and rage.  “When are we going to attack, Sir?” his secretary asked, his voice trembling slightly.

“Once the moon is red,” Dongshik said, his voice low and menacing.  “That’s the only time we can fully attack.”

“Do you mean next week, Sir?” the secretary asked, his voice filled with apprehension.

“Yes,” Dongshik said, his eyes gleaming with a sinister light.  “I’m sure they won’t be able to finish the barrier earlier.  So, we still have time to prepare.”

“How about the spy you sent there, Sir?” the secretary asked, his voice laced with concern.

“Don’t worry about that,” Dongshik said, his lips curving into a cruel smile.  “She will do her best.  We have the same goal.  She won’t betray me.  She wants someone like I am.  We understand each other.  She won’t fail me.  No one will notice her real intention.”

“If that’s what you said, Sir, I am just anxious for our safety,” the secretary said, his voice filled with doubt.  “She still has a connection with our enemy.  I am hesitant to fully trust her.  I hope she won’t change her mind and make our plans properly.”

“If she even betrays us, I will make sure she won’t see the sunrise,” Dongshik said, his voice laced with a chilling threat.  “She might be of higher rank than me, but that doesn’t change the fact she’s under my control.”  He laughed, a sound that sent shivers down the secretary’s spine.

“I believe in you, Sir,” the secretary said, his voice filled with forced confidence.

He bowed his head and left the room, his heart pounding in his chest.  He knew Dongshik was a dangerous man, a man who wouldn’t hesitate to crush anyone who stood in his way.  But he also knew that Dongshik was a master manipulator, a man who could twist anyone to his will.  He couldn’t help but wonder if the spy, Jihwa, was truly on their side or if she was playing a dangerous game of her own.
