The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-Ruler of the Walls-

As we all stood around a table, Carsten, the Captain of the Garrison freaked out as Erwin said we would not evacuate the people of Orvud district. Before he could touch him, I jumped over the table and held my blade under Carsten's neck, standing in between the both of them. As Erwin told me to stand down, Hange explained that the Titan was an abnormal so it was drawn to high concentrations of people. If we were to evacuate Orvud, the Titan would head for Mitras and it would be a devastating blow for humanity.

"As we rode to Orvud, we had Eren Yeager use his recently discovered power to control Titans." She added. "Rod Reiss's Titan didn't react in any way."

"It's true. That's because Rod Reiss is technically a shifter." I nodded. "He might be a Pure Titan right now but Eren's scream only works on Pure Titans with the inability to turn back."

The Commander then explained that, to minimize loss, they would have people drawn away from the outer Wall. Since this Titan was the largest we'd seen yet so it would be an easy target, the wall mounted canons should be effective but if not, we, the Scouts would throw everything we had at it.

It was now morning and we stood atop the Wall, looking at Rod Reiss's Titan as it got closer. The Garrison Captain ordered the cannons to fire but, as it emerged from the smoke, it revealed itself to be unscathed by the artillery fire. 

"Child you should stay out of this." Commander Erwin said as he turned to me. "Two bullet wounds are too much to deal with. You'll get yourself killed."

"Commander..." I looked up at him and smiled. "I'm not a child anymore ya know ?"

He opened his mouth but before he could answer, Hange arrived holding barrels of gunpowder, ropes and netting long with two carts loaded with gunpowder with the handles and triggers of ODM gear. Levi, Jean, Sasha and Connie were sent to take care of the other side of the wall while we finished up preparing the 'gifts'.

"Hey Yuki !" Armin called out. "So...why don't YOU become queen ? I mean Uchihas ARE the true heirs right ?"

"Easy..." I said, rolling up the rope. "I don't belong on the throne and...I think my brother understood that. He once told me 'you have the heart of a fighter, never let yourself become something you hate'. And...I hated royalty. My clan died so that their heir could get the throne back but in reality...my brother was the only one who could've done it." I smiled at him. "And if I did become queen you guys would die without me in the ranks." I joked.

Armin then rubbed the top of my head with his knuckles and I giggled. It felt nice to be like this with him again, like old times. A soldier then asked me to come help them and I reluctantly got up and went to help them tie the ropes. As I did, I looked down the wall and spotted a young Garrison soldier and a little girl, walking down the streets. They looked almost just like my brother and I on that day and...they might even end up seeing the same sight we did. But this time it was different...they would have soldiers ready to protect them. They'd have us.

I then looked over at Mikasa and just as I did, she came up behind me and hugged me. I didn't question it or try to pull away. I just hugged her back without a word but...we both knew what the other meant.

Rod Reiss's Titan now had a hand on the wall and Commander Erwin grabbed my sleeve, pulling me a little bit closer. A second hand came and placed itself on the wall but when the Titan stood up, I had to resist the urge to throw up. Its face and belly had been scraped away from all the dragging it had done on the ground. Its entrails spilled over the wall, scattering some Garrison soldiers. Armin and Mikasa soaked themselves with water and Armin was just about to hand me the bucket when I shook my head.

"Don't need it." I said. "I'm fireproof...okay heat proof but still."

Eren then nodded and transformed into a Titan as I went to take my place behind one of the barrels that was equipped with ODM gear triggers. The Commander fired up a red signal flare and I shot the hooks into the Titan's hand. 

"Try this one on for size you ugly bastard." I grinned.

The triggers reeled the carts into the Titan's hand, where they exploded due to the heat of the Titan's body. Due to the impact, the Titan lost its grip and slumped forward, making his head rest just above the wall. The Commander then called for Eren who came charging in, carrying the sack of gunpowder barrels. He hurled the sack in its mouth and, sure enough, it made the entire top half of the Titan's body explode.

"Go ! Deploy your ODM gear and finish it off !" The Commander ordered as chunks of flesh came flying down.

I sliced chunk after chunk but no luck. I jumped onto Jean's back, using the solid surface to jump off and I sliced a bigger chunk of flesh but again, no luck. A flash of lightning then sparked over my eyes and I knew exactly which one it was. It was right below us but as I looked down, I saw that Historia had already cut it up and I clenched my fists. This was it...from this point on, I'd given up my clan's rightful claim to the throne.

As I dove down to grab Historia and prevent her from crashing into the ground, she landed on a padded wagon. I crouched on a rooftop and watched as the citizens asked her if she was the one who had dealt the final blow. She then rose and spoke up.

"It's okay...I am Historia Reiss...and I am your rightful queen." She said.

"Bullshit..." I muttered and headed back to meet with the others.

Levi and I were walking through the remains of the underground chapel and I pointed out that someone was slumped against a tree. As we got closer, I gasped and realized that it was Kenny.

"UNCLE KENNY !" I yelled as I ran towards him. "Uncle Kenny..." I lightly shook him, making him open his eyes.

"Kenny." Levi said, annoyed as the soldier with him pointed his rifle at Kenny. "We found what was left of your squad...it looks like they were crushed in the cave-in. I guess you were the only survivor."

"Sure looks that way." The man replied. 

"Report back." Levi ordered the soldier. "Yuki's with me I'll be fine." The soldier obeyed and left. "Between the burns and the blood you've lost, there's nothing that can save you now." He told Kenny as I sat on my ankles in front of him, my hands on my knees. 

"Oh yeah...? I wonder..." He took a small box out and opened it, revealing the syringe that contained the fluid with the ability to turn people into Titans.
