(8 years old Aoi)
That boy.... Who was he? When did he come? Is it that the day has finally arrived?
It was rare for boys to come to my house. But this was no ordinary boy. I knew myself, that this was the boy, I was later going to get married to.
My mother had prepared me for this moment; taught me the things I should know and do, and the things I shouldn't. It was easy at first, just knowing a boy would come to visit with his father, but when I first saw him, I went shy and speechless. I got so embarrassed with my emotional state, that I stayed hidden behind the door to the living room. He was a boy as tall as me and I guess about my age; with short brown hair and dark hazel eyes; he was wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt, and dark brown pants.
When I tried to peek, he noticed me, and waved. A very friendly wave, like he is just a long time friend. A nice feeling started to build up inside me, though that feeling faded when my parents called me to sit at the table with them. It was so awkward, I hid behind my mother.
After my parents' long talk, I was able to play outside. While I was going past the rooms outside the house, I stopped at a door in which I had heard a sobbing sound. As I entered the room, I saw someone I was not expecting to see. That boy, was sobbing in the corner of the room. I tried not making a sound, but ended up stepping on old and loosened wood. The boy stopped sobbing, and started looking around.
"Who is there?" He said.
I came out of the shadows. He looked at me surprised, and I could see how red his eyes were from all the sobbing. He realized I was staring, so he looked away.
"It's just you. What are you doing here?"
"I am sorry. I thought I had heard a noise, and... What is the matter?"
"I.... It's nothing."
"Come on. You can tell me."
"Well, have you ever had that feeling that you are all alone in the world? That is how I feel everyday."
"But, you are not alone."
He looked at me questionably.
I got closer to him and cupped his face in my hands. "My name is Aoi Sakuraba. I live destined to become your wife, to grow up as your bride. As long as I am here, you will never be alone. And I will forever love you with all my heart."
I was happy he was able to crack a smile.
He wiped his tears and said, "Thank you, Aoi-San. By the way, my name is Kaoru Hanabishi, and I am very lucky I met you."
"I am very lucky I met you too!"
Just then, we became best friends. He would always come at least once a week, and we would have fun at a clearing in the forest near my house. There was this day we were playing under a tall tree....
"Hey Aoi-San." He said. "I have something to show you."
He reached out to his pocket, and brought out a medium grey key. "This key belonged to my mother. It is the only item I have of her. And it want you to keep it."
"What?! But this is your mothers. I think it is a very important item. Something very precious. Why would you give it to me?"
"We have now been friends for a long time. You are the person I trust the most, so I would like you to keep it and take care of it. It is really important that you do."
"If it is really important, I will keep it! I will keep it with all my heart. And I promise you, I will keep it safe."

That was the day we became bound to each other. Though I did not know, it would be the last day we would be able to see each other again.
