The darkness seemed to be going on forever. The moisture in the air chocked me. Not to mention the stench that burned my nose. To make matters worse, it's freezing in here. At least give us a blanket, angels of heaven. I would be forever grateful. I dont want to die in this place. Not now.
Not ever....

You must be wondering why I am in this unfortunate situation. Well, I will save you of this misery. You see, my brother and I were captured by these filthy pirates. Pirates? You mean those men that have a docked arm or leg and go around like "argh matey!" Well, not exactly. These pirates aren't as fun and lovable as in those silly tales. These pirates are selfish, unclean and ruthless. They capture feral (and not-so feral) dragons, then sell them to the highest bidder. Why are we in with these dragons? I'm not exactly sure.
My brother, Ashton Redwing was curled in a ball in the corner of our cell, trying to stay warm. His middle name "Redwing" came from the bright red ears he had when he was young. Why not Red-ear? Well, ask my parents. I'm not so sure myself.
Ashton's cheeks were hollow from our so-called pirate friends forgetting to feed us. Even when they do remember to feed us, it's just raw fish and stale bread. Not exactly your luxury meal.
The dragons were noisy today. Maybe they're calling out for other dragons to rescue them? Unlikely. Perhaps they were making their own choir. Whatever the reason was, it was surely annoying the pirate crew. Some pirates were smacking the bars with their swords or axes, screaming for them to shut up. That just made the dragons angry and anxious.
After a half hour or so, the dragons finally calmed down. Why? Well, the pirates bribed them with fish. I could really go for them roasted fish and fresh bread. Did I say fresh? I really miss my mother's fresh made bread and, well, everything that doesn't include raw meat and expired carbs.
Ashton muttered something to himself. Perhaps sleep talking or just speaking to himself.
"What's that, Red?" I asked.
Ashton looked at me, then sat up. "N-nothing. I just really want a blanket. It's so c-cold." He said while shivering.
I do admit, it's really brisk. It is the cold season, plus the wind blows the wintery air from the sea. The cold never bothered me. I've got that from my father. My brother, though, got more traits from our mother. His curly red hair, freckles, and low tolerence for the cold. For siblings, we couldn't be any more different.
Suddenly, a loud hiss, then a Booom! The ship rocked, throwing me against the wall. Something heavy landed on the poop deck above us.
"Check below deck and free the dragons!" A male voice demanded.
"On it!"
"Aye aye, captain Haddock!"
Haddock? Like the meat cut? Interesting nickname.
The noice of squeaky hinges on a door opening, then heavy footsteps as someone walked down the steps. A blonde woman appeared. Her hair was in a single braid. Despite for the cold, she wore a sleeveless shirt. A short man with dark hair and a buff figure entered behind her.
"Wow. It's really full down here. These men surely have been busy." He said.
"No kidding. You got the right side, I'll take the left. These poor dragons." The blonde said, then broke the lock with her axe.
The two freed the dragons one by one. The girl freed the dragon next to us, then finally made it to my brother and I's cell. She was just about to break the lock until she glanced at what lied beyond the locked door. She froze in place as if she never saw human prisoners before.
"Humans?" She said.
"Huh? Did you say something, Astrid. It sounded like you said 'onions.' " The man said.
"Uh, Hiccup, you should see this," The girl, Astrid, said looking to her left.
A tall, brunette young man come into view. His dark eyes were wide. "Oh no. What are they doing here? They could have frozen to death down here."
Hiccup broke the locked and rushed in. He helped me to my feet. My knees were stiff from sitting in this cold for so long. I leaned against the boy for support. Not like I trust them, it just hurts to stand. He handed me over to Astrid.
"Take to them to the deck and give them blankets and something warm to eat and drink," Hiccup said while he helped Ashton up.
Astrid nodded in understanding.
"Don't you dare touch my chicken nuggets. I'm planning on eating them on the ride back," the short male said.
"Don't worry, Snotlout. No one is going to touch your chicken nuggets." Hiccup mocked. I could hear the eye roll in his voice.

After getting a warm meal and a fresh drink, we were in the air. I was behind Astrid, while Ashton was behind Hiccup. His eyes were closed since we took off. No doubt afraid to open them. My brother has a legendary fear of heights. He always has. He gets vertigo just standing five feet away from a cliff with the dept of ten feet. Don't tell him this, but its kind of ridiculous.
"So what is this 'Berk' place?" I asked.
"Oh, you're going to love it. You have to see it to believe it. It's a place full of dragons and viking that live together in harmony. Well, except for the rare occasion a dragon accidently sets a house on fire. You don't have to worry. My father, the chief, will make sure you two are settled in, nice and tight." Hiccup explained, "We have dragon races every two weeks; axe throwing competitions, hosted by Astrid; and dragon riding training in the pit."
"Sounds fun," I admitted.
"There is no place like Berk."
I simply nodded. I might have been living with dragons for the past month, but I have seen the worse dragons can do. Not wanting to break Hiccup's optimism about this, but if the dragons suddenly go feral, his village of Berk will be no more.
