"Here goes nothing..." I sighed heavily as the rain gently dropped onto my caramel skin while walking into my new apartment. As a broke foreign exchange student living in Korea, of course I'd feel anxious about...everything. This was a completely new experience but I planned to make the next 6 months of my life the best I would ever have. Well that and I couldn't go back to America until the time was up.
I unlocked the door to a completely empty home. There wasn't any furniture and it looked as if the apartment was brand new. I still could not believe that I could such a good deal for just $800 a month. It seemed like a lot but it was abnormally cheap for Seoul. I'd have been an idiot to pass up such an opportunity. I placed my luggage in one of the two bedrooms and laughed audibly to myself. "It's all mine!" I sang excitedly. Just then, the front door was opened and I was suddenly locking eyes with a boy. He was the same height as me, with pale-olive skin, dark brown eyes and strong dimples. I was stuck at his handsome appearance, but quickly came to a realization. Why was this guy in MY apartment..?
"Who the hell are you?" He spoke, now moving from the front door and into the living room area. I immediately scoffed at his rude behavior and shot back. "No, who the hell are YOU? This is MY apartment...obviously". He quickly walked up to me and flashed his key, which read "3B". I did a double take before showing my key as well, with the identical name on it. "Oh Shit." I muttered. We both quickly dashed for the apartment phone in the living room, obviously having the same idea to call the landlord. There had to be some sort of mix-up.
Minutes later, the landlord was in our rooms with both of our contracts. "It states right here, in the fine print, that this is a roommate accommodated apartment. Now one of you could live here, but the price would double.." She explained to us. Both of our faces were stuck with shock. Of course, an apartment like this would be double the price...it all made sense now. After the landlord left, the room was filled with an uncomfortable silence. "W-well it seems as if we're roommates now right!?" I chuckled uncomfortably, as the boy simply glared at me. "I'm Anthony! I'll only be here for a few months because I'm on a foreign exchange student program! I'm 17, so I'm also a senior at Jeguk High School." I told him with a bright smile.
He just looked at me with an empty stare. "Listen, If we're going to live with one another we should at least be acquainted!" After a quick eye roll, he finally spoke. "Chan. 17. Same school." He stated before grabbing his luggage and went into the other empty bedroom and shut the door. I stood alone in the living room, trying not to faint from this awful situation. What had I gotten myself into? Unfortunately, I did not have time to pout around and pity myself. I needed to find myself a job for the time being, seeing as how rent would need to be paid every month. I got myself together and left the house quickly.
The next morning, I'd already be up bright and early. The only food in the pantry was my breakfast cereal I brought from home. I ate in the living room, as Chan made his way out his room as well, dressed in his uniform and looking quite handsome. I decided to be polite, since we got off to a weird start yesterday. "Good Morning, Chan! I was wondering if we could walk to school together! I don't know the way yet. And maybe we could get to know one another better!" Chan just looked at me and walked out the door. "Rude.." I muttered, rushing to dump my bowl of milk and chase after him. I barely reached him in time, as I was out of breath and exhausted already.
"Do not walk next to me. Do not speak to me in school either." He told me in a stern tone. I was completely taken aback. What was wrong with him? Or...was it me? I was pretty cute compared to other guys back home! I quickly snapped out of it, not letting myself get caught up in his rude remarks. "Well, I wasn't going to anyway! I plan on making friends today and it's not like you're famous or something...jerk." I muttered the last part to myself, now walking farther away from him and continuing my personal rant. "I'm not evening going to TRY anymore...so rude..."
Shortly after, I was met to the sound of distant cheers and screams as I encountered the school. Girls and boys alike seemed to be cheering for...Chan!? No one seemed to notice me as I walked past him through the crowd, trying to tough my way into the front doors of the massive school. Suddenly, another handsome guy with blue hair appeared out of nowhere with a smile. "Hi! I'm Soobin. And you're Anthony, right? I was assigned to help you around the school" He chuckled as he handed me a schedule. "U-uh yeah thanks.." I smiled hesitantly. "My first class is...Chemistry" I told him. "That's my first class of the day as well. Follow me and I can take you! Also, your tie is a bit crooked.." Soobin gave a small laugh and began walking to the class. My face got hot as I was embarrassed but I never had to wear a tie, let alone a uniform before.
"So...can you tell me about that guy everyone was cheering for? Chan?" I asked Soobin, as we walked down the hallway together. "Ah..Bang Chan. He's the most popular person in school...as I'm sure you can see. His best friends Changbin and Han are pretty popular too. Not everyone is a fan of him though.." He told me. "Wait, what do you mean by that? You can't just say something so eerie and then stop!" I exclaimed, as Soobin gave another cute laugh. "Sorry, sorry. He just also crossed a lot of people as well. He used to be friends with some others guys--Lee Know, Hyunjin, Seungmin, and Jeongin. But worst of all was his ex best friend Felix. They had a huge falling out... but no one knows why." He told me, as we now arrived to the classroom. "Oh and now we're here!" He smiled politely, escorting me into the room. He gave me a friendly wink as he sat down and gave a kiss to a guy with pink and blonde hair, who I assumed was his boyfriend.
The class began and the only available table was in the middle row, and I just hoped it would be shared with a normal person, unlike my new roommate. Suddenly, a HOT guy walked in just as the bell rang. He wore the same uniform as the rest of the boys, yet it looked so much better on him. His collar was popped, his tie wasn't done, and his aura made him stand out amongst everyone else.
He continued to walk closer and closer, and I tried to discreetly examine him. We seemed to be the same height. He had plump pink lips, blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a sharp ass jawline. I was still analyzing his face before realizing he was walking to me! He looked at me before sitting down in the vacant seat. "I'm Felix." He held out his hand for me to shake. I was shocked at his deep voice, but tried to keep my composure. "I'm Anthony" I smiled and shook his hand, trying to mask my nervousness and fascination. "It's nice to meet you." "Pleasures all mine." He smiled warmly back to me. "I know what it's like being the new kid. I just transferred here last year. I can help you..survive if you need me to." He chuckled, showing his perfectly straight and white teeth. I nearly foamed at the mouth but mustered up a semi-cute smile. "Sure. Maybe after school you could show me around town?" I said, trying to use my cute voice as the teacher walked into the class. "Sounds good." He smirked and turned to face the teacher.
Maybe my stay wouldn't be so bad after all...
