Luke, Reggie, And Alex's Funeral
Today, Skylar and her parents are having Reggie, Luke, and Alex's funeral. She didn't know how it was going to go, honesty she was scared. This is the moment she had to let go of them, the guys who had always been there for her.
Skylar was wearing a black lace dress that went to her mid thigh with long sleeves. It was one of Reggie's favorite dresses that she had so it only made sense that she wore it. She also had on the necklace that Luke had given her, merely hours before he had died. She found herself fidgeting with the necklace whenever she was getting anxious or stressed about the day to come. Her coming up and rubbing the charm in between her fingers, pulling it side to side on the chain.
When she got to the church, she was instantly frozen from all the people dressed in black. She stood there for a moment trying not to cry when she felt a tap on her shoulder. When she turned around she saw a familiar face, one she was glad to see.
It was Luke's mom, and the instant Skylar saw her, she embraced her with a tight hug. This action startled Emily, but if anyone needed a hug like that, it was them.
They both started to cry after hugging for some time. When they both pulled away from the hug, Emily kept her hands on Skylar's shoulders. She looked down at the necklace on her and a small smile rose to her face and she sighed, "I see he finally gave you that." She pointed at the necklace, then continued, "I remember the day he bought that, he was so excited. He had the biggest smile on his face when he picked it out. I haven't seen him that happy in so long, granted I haven't seen him in a long time."
"You know, he really loves... loved you. He missed you like crazy." Skylar said, her voice trembling, not knowing if she would have the strength to make it through a day of sharing stories of them without breaking down.
"Well we should probably head in, honey," Skylar nodded agreeing with Emily. When they got in there, they saw the room was filled with a sea of faces, some familiar, some not. As Skylar's eyes scanned around, she saw no sight of Bobby and all she could think was how double sided he was.
Emily hugged her one last time before going their separate ways. Skylar sat in the front row with her parents and Emily and Mitch were sitting towards the back.
Not before long, Skylar walked to the front of the church and started to speak. "Mhm...hello everyone. I'm Skylar Peters, Reggie's younger sister, and although I'm only technically related to Reggie, Luke and Alex were just as much my family as any blood relative. I honestly don't even know where to begin. Each of these guys held such a special place in my heart and I don't know how I'm going to explain how much they meant to me in such a short time. I've know Alex for about two years but over the last couple months, he has grown to be one of my idols, for many reasons. When most people think of Alex, they tend to think about his anxiety, or how he's the drummer for Sunset Curve but he is so much more than that, so much more." Skylar felt her voice begin to shake. She took a deep breath before she could continue. "He was brave, caring, and was always there for you. I honesty don't know where I would be without him. He helped me gain so much confidence in who I am and helped show me that the only opinions that matter are your own. He would always make sure we would stand tall together, even if we were the only two standing. He once told me 'If you are always trying to prove yourself to other people, you will never be enough for yourself.' From that day on, I have tried to live by that to make myself happy." She looked around at all the faces staring up at her and released a breath she didn't realize she was holding. Her gaze moved to her parents before she began talking about Reggie.
Skylar's POV
"It's hard to even know where to begin with Reggie. I feel like everyone either had a good relationship with their sibling or kind of a love hate relationship. With us, it's safe to say that we had the purest form of a loving relationship. And I know that sounds cheesy but there was times I forgot he was my brother because we really were like best friends. Reggie has been there for everything in my life and he was the one of the few people who I could always count on." The more I talked, the more the tears fell down my face. Every tear that ran from my eyes, made me want to run down from the podium and just run into the arms of one of the guys but that wasn't a reality. They were gone and I needed to figure out how to live without them. "He was the best brother I could have ever asked for. I still remember the first day he let me come watch his band practice. I had been begging him for weeks just to let me go and watch, and when he finally gave in, my excitement was through the roof. The way it ended up changing my life was unreal and I have him to thank for it."
