"But Em, you guys have been texting for ages now, why haven't you met him yet?" While we make our way to our table in the cafeteria.
"Lauren, please let's not talk about it okay?" She's ben asking me this question for about a month now. It annoys the hell out of me. But I guess she's right. I mean I have been talking to him for three months now, and we haven't even facetimed.
"I mean what's the worst that could happen?" She aks while we take our seat.
"I don't know Lau" I'm starting to get more and more annoyed. I really hate talking about this.
"You're scared aren't you" She laughs.
"Yeah I guess so, I mean what if I get catfished? I read stories about that all the time"
"Just ask him to meet up, i'll come with you, hide behind a news paper, if he's some old gross man i'll save you, you know that"
"So you think I should text him to ask if he wants to meet up?" I ask. Praying she tells me not to text him to meet up. I don't think I'm ready to meet up. Part of me is scared that he won't be who I think he is. I mean, if you've never seen someone you create this perfect picture of them inside of your head. And I kinda like how I imagined him to be. What if he's not like that? My dream would basicly shatter.
"Give me your phone" Lauren demands.
"No way" I laugh.
"Em, give. me. your. phone" She says again, then grabs my phone and runs away to the girls bathroom. I sigh.
While Lauren is away, I open my laptop and go to his Instagram page. He is so beautiful, it is kind of too goo to be true. Also, I have been watching too many episodes of the TV series 'catfish' and not FaceTiming, isn't a good sign.
"He's here in 15 minutes" Lauren comes back smiling from ear to ear.
"15 minutes!?" My heart starts raising.
"Yeah it wasn't easy to convince him to come and meet you, but I managed" She says, being very proud of herself.
"Give me my phone" I laugh. She gives me my phone and I open the messages she sent to him.
Me: Kyle... I just really want to meet you :(
Kyle: I'm sorry love, I can't
Me: But why?
Kyle: Maybe i'm not who you want me to be
Me: Just meet me here
*sends location*
Kyle: Emily, you know I can't...
Me: It's now or never Kyle
Kyle: Okay
Me: 15 minutes?
Kyle: On my way
Reading those messages makes me even more scared. What if he really isn't who he says he is. My heart starts raising even faster. I'm in a cafeteria, wearing the most comfy outfit ever. I don't even look good. And the boy who I have been talking to for three months will be here any second.
"Don't stress, it's going to be okay" Lauren tries to comfort me.
"It's not going to be okay, Lau. He really said 'what if i'm not who you want me to be'. Have you seen catfish? Because there are a LOT of red signs here" I panic.
"Hey, i'll be right here" She laughs and gets her stuff to another table, not too far away from where i'm sitting.
13 minutes pass, and I feel like i'm going to pass out any second. Lauren signs two thumbs up to me and I can't help but laugh.
"Emily?" I hear a manly voice say. My hearts stops. I turn around looking for Kyle, but all I can see is a tall, curly headed man, who is not Kyle.
"U-h-m" I stutter looking at Lauren.
"Hey, it's me" the man says.
