From Shadow- Oneshot.

All were shocked to hear about his condition, although Eggman had intended to do damage to the hero everyone was certain that this amount of damage wasn't what he'd planned "I can't help but feel as if he'll be acting as if everything is--" the doctors cut of Tails before he could finish "He has no idea that this last week are his final days, unless he gets a new set of lungs..." It was Amy's turn to bawl out crying for a devastating loss. "Sonic will be heartbroken!" The doctors sighed before allowing everyone inside the room "Hey guys, why the gloomy looks? It's just a few bruises! I'll be fine and up on my feet soon!" Sonic smiled at the gang as they came through only to be greeted with more silence "What's the matter" Sonic couldn't understand his friends behaviour until Knuckles spoke "Sonic, your lungs are damaged beyond repair...If they can't get donates...you have a week left to live" Sonic's eyes widened as e heard the news a gasp caught in his throat "A-A week?!" Rouge and Shadow were outside only having arrived a few minutes ago to hear Sonic's exclamation. Rouge was about to enter when Shadow spoke "Why am I visiting the blue annoyance..? It's nothing fatal" Rouge shot him a dirty look before dragging him inside "How is he" all heads turned to the entries. Amy just shook her head "I can't summon anger at this moment in time..." She ran out of the room leaving Knuckles and Tails. "What happened?" Rouge asked unsure only to recieve a look of sympathy "He...Sonic's lungs are beyond repair...The doctors are having a hard time finding a pair of healthy lungs that'll keep up with his running... If they don't find a pair...this is his last week alive..." Tails shivered as Knuckles finished. Shadow was shocked to hear it looking at the blue blur who lay there eyes open yet unfocused 'no more Sonic..? No one can keep up with him as it is...only--' Shadow's eyes widened as he remembered one thing that Maria had said

/"Make sure that everyone has a chance, Shadow!"/ Rouge interrupted his thoughts as she spoke "He's got no hope..?" Shadow shook his head and suddenly disappeared. Rouge, Knuckles and Tails were shocked but none of them noticed how Sonic had fallen asleep. Shadow arrived back at the hospital only moments later with a letter in an envelope. "Shad--" he put the letter in front of them "Give this to him when he gets out of surgery..." Rouge looked confused as Shadow left the room. "Why can't he give to Sonic himself!?" With Shadow he lay on the operating table the doctor looking over him "Are you sure.." Shadow nodded as he welcomed the gases that drifted him to sleep for the last time 'Maria...is this...enough?'

True to Shadow's word Sonic went into the operating theatre to be taken back to the room 2 hours later "Shadow wanted us to give him tha--" Sonic stirred faster than the doctors anticipated "Where did Shadow go?" All shrugged but Knuckles walked up to him "He wanted you to have this apparently" Sonic took the letter and opened it reading slowly before suddenly gasping looking down at his stomach "N-no..." The letter swayed to the floor making Rouge pick it up and read aloud;

To Faker,

I heard of the news, you've really done it this time hmm? However, your time is not up yet... As long as you survive the world is safe... That much I know. The real time I join with Maria is when you should be reading this letter. Sonic, those lungs in your body are ones I have given to you...Live life the way it should be lived... Goodbye Faker...
