Bleach is written as a manga, and is shown as an anime. It is a relatively good show to watch, but in all honesty, I prefer to read it. The characters are portrayed with amazing art, although it kind of looks...bad in the first few episodes. What I don't like about it is that it's one of those animes which has a VERY repetitive storyline, but the quality of the fights makes up for that.
Summary: Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper (死神 Shinigami, literally, "Death God"-a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper-from another Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki. His newfound powers force him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife.
The thing is, it's VERY interesting and addicting in the first few arcs, but I have to admit, I lost interest in it after a while.
