I woke up with a crackling noise behind me. Celeste was still beside me, passed out. I looked behind me toward the crackling noise to find a fire growing bigger. I shook Celeste awake as fast a I could. « Celeste, wake up! We need to get out of here now! » She looked at my with a confused face, but only for a second as it hit her what had happened. She turned around to also see the fire, that had somehow grown much bigger than when I had first seen it. « You're right, we need to get out quickly before it's too late! »

We managed to get out of the plane wreck to find we had landed right in the middle of a rainforest. Or at least that's it looked like. Me and Celeste looked at one another sharing a concerned look. "What are we gonna do?" She asked with a tone of voice suggesting that she was close to tears. "I'm not sure, but we'll figure something out." I replied trying to sound as calm and confident as possible. Although I was trying to act like I knew exactly knew what to do. We both knew it was hopeless. Celeste found a bunch of sticks scattered all over the dirt floor. Thankfully it wasn't muddy so we could walk through without worrying about our shoes getting dirty. She picked the sticks up a few at a time and gather them into a pile. "If you couldn't already tell," She began. "I'm trying to light a fire for us." Although I was looking at her from behind I could tell she had a huge smile on her face. "But what about food?" I asked, hoping she had brought her own so we wouldn't have to share. I'm like that. "Oh, I brought my own!" She exclaimed happily turning back to face me. 'Thank god.' I thought. "What about you? You brought some right?" She questioned. "Oh of course." My mother had packed snacks for the flight. I just hoped it would be enough. "I really hope we get saved soon, it's only so long until we starve." She sighed. She was right. We would have to get help somehow. "Wait! I have an idea!" Celeste said sounding rather excited. I said nothing but looked at her with a confused look. She noticed and replied with a smirk. It took a minute before she spoke again. "When we are done with the fire, we can make a help signal with the sticks!" She said sounding proud of herself. "I guess it will have to do." I said as Celeste beamed before picking up two of the sticks and rubbing them together to create a fire. That reminded me of the fire on the plane so I turned around to take a look. It had seemed to, like magic, had gotten smaller. I turned around to see Celeste on her hands and knees in front of the fire. "Come on! What are you waiting for? It's perfectly warm." I knelt down next to her and she was right. This was the perfect fire as it was now getting colder. Now our next goal was surviving the night.Hi, it's the author here.
