cw// blood, slight vomit

"kenma!" kuroo yelled, running up to kenma after school. he had graduated, leaving kenma alone in his last year of school. he waited for him outside every day though. he had no plans to go to college, he didn't feel a need to.

"kuroo," the blonde said quietly, walking up next to him. kuroo slung an arm around kenma, making him blush.

maybe he thinks about me the way i think about him.

"i have something i have been meaning to ask you,"

kenmas heart started racing. was he going to say how he felt? was he going to ask him out?

"you can ask me anything kuroo, don't be afraid," he looked into the talkers boy eyes, he was met with a kind smile.

"that is the most energy i've gotten out of you in months, what's up with you?

"'what's up with you'? is that your meaningful question?"

"no, it's not. what i was going to ask is how you would feel if i moved cities. i would only be about four hours away, there's this girl-"

kenma tuned the rest of the conversation out. a girl. kuroo found a girl. why wouldn't he, maybe kenma was dumb for thinking he shared the same feelings. they were childhood friends, and they would never be anything more than that.

his face got red, it was different than the blush from earlier. he was trying his hardest not to cry.

kuroo lightly shook kenmas shoulder.

"hey, i need a response,"

"oh, sorry i zoned out-"  before kenma could continue, he started coughing. his throat was suddenly sore and it felt like he was being choked eternally.

"kenma, are you okay?"

he couldn't respond, he felt something coming up his throat. he put a hand over his mouth and he felt something hit it. he looked down at it.

a dark red flower petal. he had heard about this, he thought it was fake. he looked up at kuroo with fearful eyes.

"you can't go," kenma said tearfully. before kuroo could respond, the younger boy ran home.

kenma laid in his bed, looking up at his ceiling. there were glow in the dark stars and a poster from his video game, he put them up there when he was 14.

he rubbed his throat with his hand. maybe he had just imagined the flower petal. maybe he worked himself up and was just sad over kuroo leaving. there was no way he had hanahaki disease. he didn't love kuroo that much.

"kozume?" a soft knock came from his door, he could tell it was his mom. he slowly got up and answered it.

"ko, are you okay?" she asked, worry painting itself across her face. kenma didn't eat dinner and hasn't said a single word to her.

she hadn't called him ko since he was a kid. that name mixed with the simple question 'are you okay' broke him down.

"mama, kuroo might be moving," he whispered, letting all the tears from earlier flow out. he felt like a little kid again, he hadn't called his mom mama for years.
