They waddle along the paved path covered in fallen leaves to get to their next class. Three amazingly dressed high school ducks on their way to their new high school. Denise and Tala are freshmen at their new school with their upperclassmen friend Dalia, who is a junior. As they all waddle along together, they laugh and talk about the fun of their summer. The three girls hung out all over the summer. Spending one night at Dalia's house, the next night at Denise's, and so on and so forth. As they reminisce, they just so happen to pass by the new cute senior boy who checks out Tala which makes the tip of her beak almost glow with the blush.
Denise gives Tala a little nudge of encouragement after seeing Duke looking at her which causes Tala to blush even more. Dalia gets a bit jealous but does her best to keep it hidden inside her dark heart. They waddle along to get to class, Denise and Tala whispering to each other in low voices while Dalia waddles in front of them, being the leader she was born to be. Dalia hears the two girls' giggles and glances back at them, catching them pointing at her, both with a smug look in their eyes. The two girls don't notice that Dalia saw them laughing at her.
Dalia locks the memory away for safekeeping, making a tab of all the incidents where they mistreated her. She rolls her eyes, holding back the sinful ideas swimming around in her mind. Puffing out her chest with pride, the 17-year-old duck waddles faster than she originally was, getting to the science room before any of her classmates. She looks at the teacher sitting behind her desk, glasses down and her beak stuck in a book.
"Ms. Dinah?", Dalia says, trying to get the attention of probably one of her favorite teachers. Ms. Dinah looks up from her book, her eyes wide with shock as though she forgot where she was.
"Yes my dear?", her squeaky voice says in response.
"I was wondering if you encountered many bullies in your time as a teenager in high school?", Dalia asks, fighting back her anger seconds before it boils over. Ms. Dinah can see Dalia's anger in her eyes and feel it in the air though. The colorful teacher raises her eyebrow at the youngling.
"Why yes of course. I was so intrigued by the books and finding out how the universe works and all the others cared about was when the next party was. Why do you ask me this Dalia?", Ms. Dinah asks Dalia with concern lacing her squeaky voice. Dalia looks her teacher right in the eyes and can feel the evil and sinful things trying to seep out. Ms. Dinah sees this but doesn't flinch away from her.
"Well?", Ms. Dinah presses.
"See, the thing is Ms. Dinah...", she is interrupted when her two friends waddle in together, giggling and smiling at each other. Dalia looks over at them and can feel her need for vengeance seeping through her bones. The two girls seem oblivious to Dalia though as they greet Ms. Dinah cheerfully and head to their seats. Ms. Dinah and Dalia look at each other and Dalia shakes her head as though to say that it can wait.
The two girls immediately put their heads together and start whispering to each other. And Dalia can already tell what they must be talking about as she catches them glancing at her from time to time with evil grins and small giggles. Within the next 10-15 minutes, all of the seats in the classroom are filled with talking teenage ducks. Dalia tunes them all out and focuses on controlling her temper. For some reason, it has been getting more and more difficult to control her random impulses to hurt and make those around her suffer.
After science is over, Dalia waits behind to talk with Ms. Dinah about the homework she assigned when all of a sudden Larkin stumbles into the room, out of breath and looking very panicked.
"Dalia! I need to talk to you! It's urgent!", Larkin exclaims, out of breath and his voice laced with panic. Dalia looks at Ms. Dinah and her teacher nods at her to go with him. She rushes out of the room after her friend.
"What happened? Is pa ok? Did something happen to ma?", Dalia asks, starting to get worried at his facial expressions, knowing for a fact that it takes a lot to get him this panicked. His eyes go wider than before as he looks into mine. Then, out of nowhere, he slowly backs away from me.
"Larkin what is going on?", she then recognizes the look in his eyes. Fear. Is Larkin afraid of me??? She suddenly feels the absolute fury and rage rising up inside her. Words as sharp as knives start flying from her windpipe. Insulting any innocent or guilty who happens by. Her words then turn as cold as ice and it freezes anyone within her wingspan.
"Dalia! Calm yourself before you get someone hurt!", Larkin is yelling at her, with even more panic and fear in his voice, trying his best to calm her down. She looks at him and the panic and fear in his eyes cause her anger to dissipate. What have I done...? Dalia looks around to see people looking at her in utter fear and confusion. She then notices that Tala and Denise have seen her angry. They have nothing but fear in their eyes.
Dalia can feel the pure happiness rise in her at the fear in their faces. What is happening to me? I've become a monster! And...
I love it!
