This wasn’t where he wanted to be. He was in a pitch black alleyway, surrounded by only walls. He had no idea how it was he’d arrived there. The last thing he could recall was opening his closet door to find his blue raincoat.
However, when he walked inside the closet, it was completely black. He fumbled around for a light switch but it wasn’t there. All he could feel was a cold, damp wall. He felt around a bit more to see if he could find the wooden door he’d just walked through but that had vanished too!
Suddenly, he heard his name been called out in an echoed and strange voice he couldn’t recognise. His heart skipped a beat and his brown eyes widened:
“Andrew Williams! Andrew Williams! Andrew Williams!”
All that was around him was cold damp walls that looked as if they were closing in on him. But they weren’t!
The only place where there wasn’t a wall was about three paces in front of him and to his right. Then he found a dark opening that was just big enough for him to fit through. He climbed through it and tried to work out where he was. He reached around to see if he could find any sign of his house like his bed or whether this was actually his closet...but he couldn’t. It was just more damp walls.
Slowly, he crept forward, searching for somewhere else to go. Suddenly, he fell down. What he was falling down to, he did not know. He tried to stop himself from falling but he couldn’t. He just scraped his hands on the walls around him. He only found out what he was falling down when he hit the bottom: it was a well and the water flowing made it impossible to breathe.
He didn’t understand how he got from his home to this weird alleyway and then suddenly into a well. He didn’t want to carry on - all he wanted to know now was where he was going to end up next and when he’d be going back to his cosy bedroom.
Just then, he noticed a small hole just above the top of the water and he decided to swim closer to get a better look at it. It was pitch black so he couldn’t see where it lead to. He could see that it was the right size for him to fit through, though.
So he climbed through it, not knowing where he’d end up. (Wouldn’t you do the same thing if you were trapped in this weird place?) After he’d finally clambered through, he found himself in something that looked like the same alleyway he started off in. Cold, damp walls were everywhere.
So there he was in the same old alleyway. However there was one thing different: the gap that he’d gone through before wasn’t there anymore. He walked on forward, searching for another way to go.
Then he came upon another alleyway. So he went down it however it was just a dead end. He was already annoyed to be in this alleyway but to find a dead end just made it worse! So he had to turn around and go back. Then he carried on walking forward until he found somewhere else to go.
It didn’t take too long because there was another pathway about ten paces down and this one didn’t lead to a dead end. So he carried on walking down the twisting and turning alleyway. He found another hole in the ground but this time he threw a nearby pebble down the hole to see if there was water at the bottom like last time. There wasn’t.
Slowly and carefully, he lowered himself down the hole to find that he could reach the floor more easily. Then he worked out where he was in a room which had ten doors surrounding him!
Bravely, he walked to one of the doors and opened it. However, there was only a brick wall there. He opened eight more doors hoping one would lead him to his home but behind them all were walls. There was a concrete wall, a cement wall, a wooden wall, a glass wall in front of a brick wall, a plastic wall and several other walls.
After opening all of the doors, he was even angrier than before. But then he realised that there was one door left! Finally, he opened the last door hoping it wouldn’t reveal another wall. It didn’t. Instead, it revealed another door.
So he opened that door which led to another door. About ten doors later, there was a room - not an alleyway but a room! He stepped inside the room with great difficulty as the doors had gotten smaller each time. So he had to crawl through it to find himself back in his room with his blue coat in his hand!
He crept over to his closet door and opened it slowly to see if it was all gone. Thankfully it was. There were just his clothes like it should be: with a shoe here and there. Other than that, it was all in place. He then checked his hands to see that they were no longer covered in blood and the cuts had gone.
He heard his Mum shouting up the stairs saying they were going to be late.
It turned out he was only in the closet for five minutes. He grabed his bag and headed out the door to go to school. As he hoped he wasn't going to be late because his teachers would kill him.
