Chapter 1

"Deena, all you do is stare at that boy. Do you like him or something?" My best friend Michael asked me. Me and Michael have been best friends since we were four. He has always been there for me, pushing away bullies and comforting me when I needed it most.

"He's super cute. I love those muscles." I say and smile. I turned to Michael, he rolled his eyes but smiled. "He's perfect."

"I have muscles too, and they are the same size as his." Michael argued while sitting next to me. "And he isn't all that. I heard he killed someone."

"That wasn't him, police said a vampire like creature killed the person. So, who knows." I simply said and took a bite of my granola bar. Lunch was two periods ago but they feed us prison food so no one eats. We snack during classes or skip lunch to go to the Subway across the street.

"I know it was him, I was the-" He stopped talking and ran his huge hand through his dark brown curly hair. "You know what, nevermind. Believe what you want Deena, but promise me you'll stay away from him. Especially if he tries to get you alone."

I laugh. "You are being over dramatic, Michael. I can pull my own."

He smirked and looked down. "Believe what you want." Michael grabbed his books as the bell ringed and walked out. The students poured out into the hallway as Teachers opened the doors for their next class.
