Born under the sun of the Persian Empire in the Kingdom of Maghreb, Zeynab, a young, headstrong, intelligent woman desperately seeks treatment for her father's ailment. With little resources and choice, Zeynab defies convention and seeks an audience with the royal physician of the sultan, Rashid Al-Hamid, a man known for his ruthlessness and cruelty on the battlefield. Born with an arrogance and a merciless heart, none dared to challenge him, until Zeynab is mistaken for his entertainment on arrival. When Sheikh Rashid Al-Hamid encounters the stubbornly independent woman, he is struck by her beauty and defiant nature, fueling the possessive need to take her as his captive. Zeynab bristles under his arrogance and refuses to become one of his harem women, but Sheikh Rashid is undeterred by her defiance. Fleeing, Zeynab vows to escape the sensual Sheikh, but the chase does little to temper the hunter blood in him. As the two go head to head in a battle of wills, Zeynab senses a formidable opponent within Sheikh Rashid and the sultan quickly learns not to underestimate the willful woman, who has half a mind to demonstrate that she's more than he makes her out to be. What will happen to Zeynab as she fights against the Sultan for her independence?

The households in India have been run by women primarily, following the centuries old tradition. From taking care of the child's breakfast to ensuring that the mother in-law's morning cup of tea is served on time, it is always the woman of the household. She is a wife, a daughter, a daughter in-law, a mother.... But who is she in reality? Mrinalini. The name was abruptly forgotten the moment she stepped into the Acharya household as a married woman. She became Mrinal for her husband, Bouma (daughter in-law) for her in-laws and other elders, Boudi(sister in-law) for her brothers in-law and Mrs. Acharya or Acharya Boudi for outsiders. Her identity was forgotten as she gradually accepted her duties as a married woman, as a daughter in-law and as someone who was expected to sacrifice. Their home wasn't a mansion or even a bungalow. There were financial constraints and there were challenges like every other middle class home. Not everything was easily available, apart from that one thing that was abundant and pravalent: PATRIARCHY She was taken for granted like most women in India are. Maybe there was love, maybe there was no mistreatment yet Mrinalini felt the walls around her constricting on her and causing her asphyxiation. This is the story of a bird compelled to live in a locked, golden cage... Will she ever liberate herself and fly? ... Dedicated to all the Indian mothers and women and to women all around the world who dedicated their entire lives to raise their children, to give love and to be selfless. ... This story doesn't aim to hurt or offend anyone's thoughts or sentiments. This is a work of pure fiction that came to my mind after watching the Bengali movie, 'Mukherji da r Bou'. The concept and the story and the characters explored in the story are all going to be my creation and my own original ideas. No plagiarism intended or supported. My work is copyrighted

"Ayesha Madam! I want you to write my story in this. My hafiz-ji gave this to me." I smiled breezily, relishing my victory of finally hearing her speak. "I will, Talat. I will." As I held the frayed old diary, I could see a saga chiseled on its grimy brown cover, as if it was a witness, a faithful friend, an unfailing narrator. On the first page, it was written in Urdu- "You are gifted, my child. With his blessings, insha'allah you will go a long way." Encapsulated in a world brimming with limits and restraints, Talat heard these words with strange trepidation, she doubts whether she has the authority to determine the length of this "long way". Meet Talat Sheikh, an ordinary 16 year-old girl who hails from a tiny village named Rasoolpur. Accompany her on a journey of persevering, transitioning, discovering, losing and conquering. Married at 16 to a man named Aftab who belongs to one of the wealthiest family in the village of Karaundi, read how a young Talat goes through a jagged path, grappling with her own feelings, challenging the lines inscribed on her palms, abandoning her girlhood, her identity, belying her love for her first sweetheart Mahib. Did she win? How long did it take? What did she lose? What did she gamble? There are a lot of questions. So go on and see for yourself. Set up in the years 1998-2015 , Her journey is equally poignant and beatific. It will inspire you and it will unusually shatter you. Have a great read!
